Our hearts are so full sharing this amazing update β€” on May 22nd, Mila had her port removed! πŸŽ‰βœ¨

After being diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, Mila faced treatment with bravery beyond her years. She completed chemotherapy at the end of 2025 and also underwent proton therapy as part of her fight. Every step of the way, she has shown resilience, strength, and determination that continue to inspire us all.
Having her port removed is more than a medical procedure β€” it’s a powerful milestone that represents healing, progress, and hope for what’s ahead.
Mila and her family embody courage and perseverance, and we are honored to walk alongside them on this journey.

We are so proud of you, Mila. We love you and will always be cheering you on! πŸ’›πŸ’ͺ

🌟 June is National Cancer Survivors Month 🌟

This month, we honor the strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit of cancer survivors everywhere. πŸ’œ

At Cancer Fit, survivorship isn’t just something we talk about β€” it’s personal.

πŸ’‘ Did you know? Our Co-Founders, Robb & Elle Bolton, have both been cancer survivors since 2009.
Between the two of them, they have faced cancer six times.
Elle has survived:β€¨βœ¨ Cervical Cancerβ€¨βœ¨ CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) β€” three times
Robb has survived:β€¨βœ¨ Thyroid Cancerβ€¨βœ¨ Lung Cancer

Their journey is proof that strength isn’t about never being knocked down β€” it’s about getting back up, again and again.

Cancer does not discriminate. It does not care about your age, size, background, or lifestyle. It can impact anyone.

That’s why movement matters. Nutrition matters. Community matters.
At Cancer Fit, we proudly participate in research studies, and our programs are research- and evidence-based β€” designed to create sustainable, healthy lifestyles for survivors of all ages. πŸ’ͺ

Survivorship is about more than getting through treatment. It’s about rebuilding strength, restoring confidence, and thriving beyond diagnosis.

You are strong.
You are seen.
You are not alone.

For those who missed it 🀍

A Memorial Fund has been established to support Zelaya’s family for Celebration of Life expenses and living costs for her mom and sisters in the months ahead as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

To make a tax-deductible donation, please visit https://cancerfitinc.com and note β€œZ” in the memo.

100% of funds will go directly to support her family.

At just 16 years old, Zelaya had already faced more than most do in a lifetime. She was first diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 2 and received a life‑saving bone marrow transplant. Nearly eight years later, she was diagnosed with a secondary cancerβ€”an aggressive brain tumor (glioma). Through every treatment, Zelaya carried a beautiful smile and was always more concerned about her sisters and loved ones, making sure we were all okayβ€”even on her hardest days.

Thank you for surrounding Z’s family with love, strength, prayers and support. πŸ’›βœ¨

With heavy hearts, we share that our precious Cancer Fit Kid, Zelaya Guevara passed away Sunday morning, May 17th, 2026, after a three-year battle with pediatric brain cancer (glioma).

Zelaya was an inspiration to so many, from us here at Cancer Fit, to the people of Puerto Rico. Even during her own difficult times, she continued to show up selflessly and with a smile. No matter what, she always put others first, even giving her wish up to help the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico at only 8 years old. She was, and will continue to be exactly what her name means, a beautiful light.

This is an unimaginable loss to her family, and ours. Zelaya, we love you so much, and will continue to be guided by your beautiful light.

Zelaya’s family appreciates well wishes, and condolences. Please understand that if you do reach out, her family may not respond right away as they continue to navigate through this difficult time.

Cancer Fit has set up a Memorial Fund to help with:
- the costs of a Celebration of Life
- living expenses for Charlie and the girls over the next few months

We have a goal of raising $15,000.

If you’re able to help, please consider a tax-deductible donation here:

We are beyond grateful for our incredible ongoing Platinum Business Supporter, Daily Breath Pilates!

For the past 10 years, they have stood beside Cancer Fit in support of pediatric cancer families β€” and for the past two years, they have committed to being a dedicated monthly supporter. Because of their generosity, two pediatric cancer warrior families are supported every single month. πŸ’›πŸŽ—οΈ

Located in Westlake Village, Daily Breath Pilates is a privately owned studio teaching traditional Pilates and so much more. Their welcoming, supportive environment reflects their belief in meeting clients exactly where they are and helping them build strength from the inside out.

Their generosity goes even further β€” Daily Breath Pilates donated a dozen cycling bikes to Cancer Fit, allowing us to set them up directly inside our warrior family homes. These bikes provide families with safe, accessible ways to move their bodies, rebuild strength, and support healing right from home. πŸš²πŸ’›

Beyond their financial and in-kind support, this partnership has created something truly special. Through Daily Breath Pilates, we have built amazing friendships and gained loyal supporters within their studio community. The relationships formed through their space have strengthened our mission and expanded the circle of people who show up for pediatric cancer families month after month. That kind of community is priceless.

If you’re local to the Westlake Village area and have never given them a try, this is your sign! Reach out to Daily Breath Pilates to schedule your free semi-private trial class and experience their incredible community for yourself.

Please join us in thanking Daily Breath Pilates for a decade of partnership, two years of dedicated monthly giving, their generous bike donation, and for continuing to make a life-changing impact every single month. πŸ’›

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

This May we want to acknowledge the importance of mental health for childhood cancer warriors, and their families. Unfortunately, not many recognize that the mental health of these families is just as important as the physical health. Whether you’re a parent dealing with the stress of taking care of your family and your child with cancer, a sibling feeling invisible during an uncertain time where you should be seen and heard, or a patient dealing with the isolating feelings that comes with a cancer diagnosis, we see ALL of you. We here at Cancer Fit want you all to know just how important each of you are, we see the sacrifices you make, and we are here for you.

To the family and friends outside of our community. Please be understanding during these trying times, and offer your support where you can. Childhood cancer is an extremely isolating disease for the whole family, you can help make them feel seen.

Did you Know?

πŸŽ—οΈAccording to the Pediatric Cancer Research Center, β€œdepression rates among childhood cancer survivors reach as high as 40.8%, significantly more than the 9.6% national average” (Thomas, 2024).

πŸŽ—οΈIn that same article, they mention β€œa cross-sectional study looking at nearly 5,000 families who care for children diagnosed with cancers. The study found that the probabilities of one or both parents requiring healthcare visits for anxiety, depression or other mental health-related issues was statistically higher than the probabilities for families of children without cancers” (Thomas, 2024).

πŸŽ—οΈIn 2022 the Journal of Pediatrics published a systematic review and found that siblings of children with chronic illnesses or disabilities were more likely to have symptoms of depression (SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, 2023)
