Its been too long.
With a heavy heart we mourn the loss of those who were at Borderline Bar & Grille for "College Night". Thank goodness our current team is safe. 14 years ago "College Night" began and was our biggest fundraiser. It provided every member of the team a paid trip to compete at Nationals in Florida. For a school club to go to Nationals was and is a "reach for the moon" goal . We worked our butts off well into the night, but as dancers our work ethic is nothing short of super human and dance goals are always worth accomplishing. Up until the Cal Lu dance world changed, as the dance world does, we went to Nationals as a team year after year. A fact that we should all be proud of. This dream only became a reality with the generosity of Borderline.
There are endless memories at Borderline. Some fantastic, some book worthy and some should always stay at Borderline.
For each of us, this disgusting display of violence hits hard. What started out as a time for us to bond and dance is now tainted with tragedy. Remember that only moments before this massacre occurred everyone in there was having a good time. Take comfort in knowing "College Night" changed the social scene of Cal Lu for the better. We may know of this terrible event, but I will bet my vintage CLU unitard and every team jacket on the fact there are thousands of positive stories we haven't heard.
Ladies, continue to do the good work God asks of you. Take the extra time to hug your family and friends. Flash that award winning smile to someone who needs it. Appreciate the arts and what dancing means to you. Let's not let this solo act ruin the larger routine. We can still perform as champions if we work together.
All the DT love there is and ever was.
