The City of Thousand Oaks is currently updating its Active Transportation Plan or ATP. The ATP identifies the cities priorities for increasing multimodal transportation like walking and 🚴‍♂️ 🚶‍♀️

Making walking and biking more accessible and safe can lead to a more desirable city, a healthier community, and reduce our climate pollution. Nearly 90% of Thousand Oaks uses cars as their main mode of transportation, which explains why our majority of climate pollution in the city is from vehicles. When surveyed, most folks support multi use paths and separated bike lanes in the city, so let’s work to make that a reality!

A great opportunity to voice your thoughts on the ATP is at the Traffic and Transportation Commission on September 24th at 6PM. You can submit a written comment, join remotely, or come to the meeting in person. đź”— with more info in bio.

California is facing a major budget shortfall.
Instead of cutting essential services or raising taxes, there’s a better option:
Make climate polluters pay for the damage they’ve fueled.

/ would raise $150 billion or more from the world’s largest fossil fuel companies—protecting California’s budget and our communities.

🚨Action Alert!🚨 Tell the City of Fillmore to join the Clean Power Alliance!⚡

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the City of Fillmore will vote to conduct a feasibility study to consider opting into the region’s Community Choice Energy, Clean Power Alliance program (CPA). We need your support in telling the council why CPA is important to you and why you want the City of Fillmore to join. Fillmore is the only city in Ventura County that has not yet joined this program, which is one of the biggest actions a city can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions!

Join us tomorrow evening to tell the Fillmore City Council why you think they should join this program:

Since the start of 2025, we’ve seen more than $250 billion in damages from the Los Angeles wildfires. In addition to that, in the last 5 years prior, California has faced more than $50-100 billion in damages for extreme weather events like atmospheric rivers, unprecedented winters, and other wildfires. We only expect that number to go up. The companies who are responsible for these climate-fueled disasters should be the ones to pay for the damages, not California residents. It’s time for California to make polluters pay into a climate superfund that will get money to communities most in need of recovery and resilience! Vermont and New York already passed a Climate Superfund, let’s make California next!

The Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act of 2025 (SB 684/AB 1243) would require big polluters to pay a fee based on their share of the past 20 years of carbon pollution that’s been emitted into the atmosphere. The money would then be used to deal with the impacts of climate change and costs of transitioning to a clean energy future.

Sign up for the Community Forum from Chalice Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Conejo Valley to be held on Zoom on Saturday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. We’ll be discussing the details of SB 684/AB 1243, what this bill means for California and what you can do to help it pass.
