We are one week after the finale of the Heli Spring Fling (16th Year), and I must say it was an AWESOME event. The Fredericksburg Area RC Club (FARCC) wants to thank all that attended this spectacular event. Kasey Campbell and I hustled our asses off to ensure Spring Fling 2026 would go down in the history books as one to remember. To the FARCC members holding down the kitchen, the registration, and ensuring you had clean bathrooms, thank you so very much! Team work makes the dream work!!! BIG thank you to Leroy Hall, the Music Man; he was definitely part of the musical magic day and night. Also special thank you to Jay (Jat –you had to be here to understand his new nickname) Treadway and his lovely fiancé Mauriah (Red) for lending a hand whenever needed. There were/are so many people to give thanks too, and “we” want y’all to know it was deeply appreciated.
To our sponsors: HeliDirect, Miniature Aircraft, XLPower, MikadoUSA, FlyRlightRC, Random R/C, XDFly, Savox, and Spirit; with absolute deep gratitude and gratefulness, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the raffle prizes and give-a-ways! Thanks for the pictures Chi-Chi.
Okay, I know you want to know how many pilots we had, well on the books 91 registered pilots, but I would say we had 101. We do have some RC Pilots that regardless of the weather (because Mother Nature has thrown a few curve balls at us in the past few years), ALWAYS show up: AMAIN, Miniature Aircraft, BK team, RCHO family. That is a representation of their dedication (love) of RC Heli hobby and the FARCC family.
Special thanks to Kasey and his significant other (Christine) for cleaning out and setting up the new hangar to have the Pilot’s dinner. The Saturday rain was upon us and we had a well lit, comfortable area to serve the Pilot’s dinner and fellowship with one another.
If you couldn’t attend this year’s Spring Fling, let me say, Wed-Fri were amazing days to fly, Saturday was cloudy and the rain didn’t start until 6pm (1800), and it ended by 7:30pm (1930). Friday it seemed like we had two fun flys going on at the same time. Both the front and back fields were in full swing; all eight (spacious) flying station were being used simultaneously. Nioooce!
For our events, we had an auto-rotation contest on Friday, four participants, and you know who won the GooSky S1 (donated by HeliDirect), none other than our friend the auto-rotation KING à Raja.
Saturday we were lucky enough to have FARCC’s first Spring Fling IRCHA CUP (the winner gets free registration at IRCHA Jamboree 2026 and entered in the next IRCHA Cup round). We had 10 Pilots (thank you), all were amazing, but Rafael was the winner à Congratulations; with Ireland taking 2nd place, and Tanner taking 3rd place. IMHO the crowd enjoyed the show. Again, BIG shout out to Leroy for holding down the music.
Some EPIC flights, for pictures and videos, please see FaceBook groups: the Heli Hangout, HeliDirect Heli Addiction, and RCHO.
I could go on and on, but going to end it here. Spring Flings are somewhat like RC Heli hobby kickoff event; looking forward to the other fun flys this year. Fall Heli Mowdown is 23-27 Sep 2026, juRst sayin’ 😊
I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, please fly safe, and take care; peace!
