🌱 Welcome to the Month of March! 🌱
In Navajo, March is known as Wóózhch’į́į́d, meaning “the time when plants begin to sprout.” This season reminds us of renewal, growth, and taking care of our minds, bodies, and spirits.

💚 Mental Health Awareness
As we move into Wóózhch’į́į́d, let’s remember to check in with ourselves and those around us. Mental well‑being is just as important as physical health. If you or someone you know is struggling or needs someone to talk to, you can call or text 988, the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, for immediate support. Reaching out is a sign of strength.

February is known in Navajo as **Atsá Biyáázh** — *“Baby Eagle Month.”* This name reflects a time of growth, strength, and renewal as young eagles begin to develop.

February also brings important national awareness efforts:
🟣 **National Cancer Prevention Month** — encouraging early detection, healthy habits, and community education.
🧡 **National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month** — promoting safety, respect, and support for our youth.

As always, your Thoreau Community Center is here for you.

We’re stepping into the new year together, and we’re excited to welcome you during our regular hours: Monday–Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM.

The Thoreau Community Center is here for you with:
• Free community WiFi
• Email set‑up support
• Computer access for work, school, and daily tasks
• A welcoming space to learn, connect, and grow

As we move through January — Yas Niłtʼees, the Navajo name for the first month of the year — we want to remind everyone to take care of their mental well‑being. Be gentle with yourself, set small goals, and remember that progress doesn’t have to be perfect. If you or someone you know needs support, the 988 lifeline is available anytime.

Our building is also available to rent for meetings, gatherings, and community events.
