Yesterday was a sneak attack for JusticeforLarry. Last Thursday, while in court, we were informed that September 18, 2025, was a status hearing. I had another obligation Thursday morning and was unable to attend, thinking Monday was the start of jury selection and trial.
Liz Moore was notified at 4:30 pm Wednesday evening that a plea deal was being made by McCalister. As I was driving 25 dogs to be spayed and neutered, I received the call. Absolutely in shock and disbelief, this was happening.
If I could’ve turned my K-9 Express around, I would’ve been in court and not allowed this to happen. McCalister spoke to the court as he entered his plea of guilt, stating that this situation has ruined his life.
Oh, the irony.
He lost his job in a high-security position, gotten divorced, almost lost custody of his child, and can no longer have a firearm. He also requested that Maria Elena Salvaggio and Liz Moore never be in contact with him. Imagine being scared of two strong willed women.
He had so much remorse for lying to the police that he turned to God. He has since become a Deacon lol.
Since i was not in court and not able to speak like Liz had the opportunity to do so i have this to say McCalister .
Let me tell you, Michael McCalister, what you’ve done to us. For almost four years, I had to carry the guilt for Larry’s senseless death caused by you. Your lies sent us on a wild goose chase for almost a week, making false reports to the sheriff’s department that we were harassing you, and claiming Larry was not with you. Meanwhile, he was dead, shot by a 9mm bullet to the head, and buried in your backyard in a hole you dug with your backhoe to conceal your crime. You had the opportunity to bring Larry to the vet’s office at 3 pm but were too concerned about payment for his care.
The moment your crime was unveiled, and I demanded you unearth his body and return Larry to us, is a moment I will never forget.
I’ll never forget screaming NOOOO and collapsing to the ground in the parking lot of the sheriff’s department when the deputy told us Larry was dead. Seeing the small box you stuffed him in is an image I will never forget. The image of Larry’s body covered in Georgia clay, with his collar on, bearing identification of ownership, made it 100 times worse for us. You failed to call the number on the tag; you could’ve gotten Larry back home to us. But instead, you decided to play target practice. The body of Larry we carried to Athena, Georgia, for a necropsy is a ride I will never forget. Holding Larry’s deceased body to place him on a gurney to be wheeled away for an autopsy made me physically ill. I held him and asked him to forgive me for taking him to Georgia from Massachusetts to live a happy life.
You decided to keep lying and making us look like we were harassing you. You harassed us for four years, leaving us with images of our Larry for the rest of our lives. May you find redemption and turn your life around. In my eyes, Michael McCalister, you are a felon, no matter what your attorney and the DA allowed you to plead out. I will continue to fight for the voiceless animals, no matter what. May we all find strength and courage in our fight for justice and compassion. May you rot in a hole like the one you put our sweet Larry in.
Christine Lacasse Larry’s death had some punishment but it was definitely not enough and I’m truly sorry for what happened to your beautiful, majestic boy.
