The focus of our page is to network the dogs in our program by telling their stories from the time they enter. We also hope to educate in all matters DOG and often discuss topics such as nutrition, health, training, choosing the right dog for your lifestyle, etc. Our goal here is to keep a positive outlook on rescue by sharing the happy and not focusing on the negative. Villie had his appointment with The Eye Vet today. I had really hoped we might be able to take care of these cherry eyes asap, but understandably, they want to wait until he is about six months old so that he is bigger and better suited for anesthesia. I forget how tiny he is despite being 3 months old. I think his ears make him look bigger than he really is.
So, we would love to find a local adopter for this boy, so his family can begin loving on him and bonding and we will cover his surgery when he is six months. Just like Wifty, we hate for him and his potential family to miss out on his puppyhood. He will need his eye gel everyday until he has surgery, but we will cover that as well.

I know that often when we say that a dog needs another dog, people often think we are being picky. Sometimes we know they need a play companion or that they simply thrive with other dogs because they are a “dogs dog” and sometimes it’s a confidence thing. When Enid Sedge came into the program she was bit shy but warmed up quickly in her temp foster home while she waited for her regular foster to be available after travel. Her regular foster does not currently have another dog and Enid just has not been able to thrive in that environment despite her foster mom’s best efforts and going to day care (she does great at day care).
We have moved Enid back to a foster home with other dogs where she feels much more confident and we will strictly be looking at applications that have at least one other confident dog in the home. She is a sweet girl. During this time with a new diet and lots of walks and exercise she has lost some much needed weight and will hopefully be ready for adoption soon!!!

Morning meditations from Camp Snooty….
Being happy where you are in life, doesn’t mean you’ve settled….its just important to create happiness at every stage rather than constantly thinking you will be happy “when”. When is now.
*Wifty was born with defects in both back legs. He does not seem painful, but his movement is certainly challenged. He is a pistol. No grass is too tall or too wet. He’s mastered steps up and down. When he needs to run faster to keep up, he runs sideways to kick into fifth gear. His best friend is a teenage boxer and he can absolutely hang. He is rough and tumble and determined. And he is incomparably happy and looking for his adoptive home. [email protected]

Well, you haven’t experienced Camp Snooty until you’ve been skunked they say, but I don’t think we have ever had a young puppy get skunked. But it is a true testament to his s***k. He does not let the deformities of his back legs keep him from experiencing everything the other dogs do. Skunks included. When the pack flew off the porch when they saw the skunk, he was right behind them and I swear we heard him say “you go high and I’ll go low”…..and low he went. No holds barred.
He had his updated X-rays last week and we are waiting to hear back from the specialist. We know once he has finished growing he will need a procedure or two to give those legs the best chance possible. We want to know what that might look like so that we can begin looking for an adopter who knows and understands that when the time comes for those surgeries we will be responsible for him. But we don’t want him to have to wait for two years to find his family. That’s not fair to him. He is such a fabulous puppy and is going to really teach someone the beautiful lesson of never being afraid to love something special.
Meanwhile…..he’s had his first skunking and survived the worst part….the bath.

Barroll has a lot to talk about!!! Next week he’ll get his second set of shots and be ready to look for his adoptive home!!! He is a Pug/Chi mix who is about 10 weeks old and weighs around 4 lbs. He is a sweet and good natured boy!! For adoption information email us at [email protected] !!!

Well, we didn’t find a partner foster to get this guy out of the shelter for his 8 weeks of antibiotics. But, our trainer couldn’t stand it so she broke him out today!! He is so happy to be out of there and playing with other dogs and he will get lots of training while he’s with her healing his really bad kidney infection so that when he’s well and ready to hit the adoption floor…he’ll be silver platter ready!!
Also, please note that’s Fifi LeFleur running those Aussie circles around him. She has finally found herself and is playing with the other dogs!!!

Happy Gotcha Day Eugene!!!!! Every adoption day is important for the obvious reasons….but here’s the thing that most people don’t think about on the other side of this. Eugene’s foster is the foster home that said yes to the two puppies I introduced this weekend. The Chig pups….and Villie needs the eye surgery. Because Eugene had been adopted, that foster family could say yes to the puppies. They are the only foster family that offered and they would not have been able to offer if they’d still Eugene in their care. One dogs adoption made room for two pups. That’s the math….whether you adopt from a rescue or shelter, when you adopt one you also save another….or two.
