Project ASCENT is a non-profit outdoor adventure education program that works to provide educational outdoor adventure and recreational opportunities to all ages in Montana. In addition, Project ASCENT works to spread environmental awareness and stewardship throughout the region
The goals of ASCENT and its programs include:
Develop an appreciation and understanding of nature
Instill a desire
to be active and healthy in the outdoors by offering experiences in life-long recreational activities in local wilderness areas
Help combat addiction and mental illness associated with a sedentary lifestyle by offering opportunities to participate in local outdoor recreational activities
Introduce participants to local professionals and job opportunities in science, sustainable energy, and other outdoor recreation related areas. Help participants gain a better understanding of the natural world and their place in it
Improve self-esteem, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
Promote a desire to protect the environment and act as good stewards of our world. Educate participants on the benefits of sustainable living and responsible consumption of natural resources.
