Okay, before you immediately fall in love with Chutney’s adorable little face (we totally get it), we want you to know a few things. Get ready to read!
Yes, she’s tiny, scruffy, sweet, and loves being held. Yes, she enjoys naps, attention, and hanging out with her people. But Chutney also has some medical needs that her future family needs to understand.
To learn more about Chutney and how to best support her long-term, we traveled to Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, where she was diagnosed with Grade 4 medial patellar luxation in both hind legs. In simple terms, her kneecaps are permanently out of place, leaving her with a pretty wonky walk. Her mobility is limited and always will be, which means she needs a family committed to helping her stay comfortable and closely monitored by a veterinarian as she gets older.
Now, before you assume that means Chutney just sits around all day, absolutely not. She gets around surprisingly well, loves going outside, and is always happy to join her people for a short walk around the yard. She’s happy-go-lucky, snuggly, and much more interested in relaxing with her people than going on big adventures in the woods. Couch time afterward? Yes, please!
She also appears to do well with other dogs, cats, and kids, and we think she’d love to find a calm, low-key home that understands her limitations and loves her exactly as she is. We’d love to schedule a time for you to come in, meet her, and find out if you’re the home and family she is looking for!
