Shortly after Spencer was born, I founded Upside Downs with a simple hope: to help change how people see individuals with Down syndrome, to focus on the β€œUpside” of Down syndrome and to build a stronger, more connected community for families like ours. What began as a small idea has grown into something far greater than I ever imagined because of the love, support, and dedication of this incredible community.

Serving on the board of Upside Downs has been one of the greatest honors of my life. But, after much thought and reflection, I have decided to step down from my position on the board. While this chapter is coming to a close, my belief in this organization and its mission has never been stronger.

I am deeply grateful for every family, volunteer, supporter, and friend who has helped make Upside Downs what it is today. I also look forward to sharing more soon about an exciting personal and professional next chapter that I believe was shaped in large part by this journey and the people who have helped change the narrative and walked it with me.

From the bottom of my heart….THANK YOU! Upside Downs will always hold a special place in my heart, and I cannot wait to see all that is still to come.

Anything is possible with Down syndrome!!!

Level Up + Live It Up: Summer Safety Splash! β˜€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Join us on July 15, 2026 for a fun evening at Bayou Country Club as we combine learning and summer fun! We’ll kick things off with a brief interactive session focused on important summer safety topics like hydration, sunscreen, heat safety, and smart pool habits.

After the session, participants will enjoy 90 minutes of open swim with a lifeguard on duty while connecting with friends and enjoying a fun summer evening together. Please note this is during regular club swim hours, so the pool will also be open to Bayou Country Club members at that time.

Learn. Splash. Live It Up. πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ’™πŸ’› 10 Years of Upside Downs πŸ’›πŸ’™
10 years of empowerment.
10 years of connection.
10 years of celebration.

Upside Downs was founded 10 years ago with the mission of celebrating individuals with Down syndrome through new parent outreach. What began as a mission to provide new parent baskets to local families has grown more than we could have imagined. Today, Upside Downs provides new parent baskets to hospitals across Louisiana; hosts life skills and social programs for teens and young adults with Down syndrome; creates unforgettable memories through our annual Magical Dance Party; and brings the entire community together each year through the 3.21 Dash in celebration of all of our friends with Down syndrome.

Through the generosity and support of our families and our community, Upside Downs has broken records over the past 10 years. We are proud to pave the way to a more inclusive future for our friends with Down syndrome. We can’t wait to see what the future holds, but if there is one thing we know for sure it is that ANYTHING is possible with Down syndrome! πŸ’™πŸ’›
