I first got to know Mike Detillier about 15 years ago when my late brother, Albert, introduced me to him and invited him to the Pro Football Camp. Through the years, I have gotten to know Mike very well and he even became a patient of mine about 10 years ago. I always enjoyed my visits with him in clinic as we would spend about five minutes talking about his knee and about 30 minutes talking about LSU football. My nurse would have to come break up the conversation as I had other patients to see. Mike has been part of the Pro Football Camp for 15 years and he has helped us tremendously in growing and promoting the camp.
I enjoyed and will dearly miss my interviews with Mike on the radio talking about sports injuries. He had an unbelievable way of giving me the answers in his question. The PFC and Elias families will miss him dearly and will always appreciate what he did for the camp. Most importantly, Mike was a dear friend and I will always cherish that as well as his mentorship. He was the best of the best in his field and was a strong ambassador for the Bayou Region.
We send our love and prayers to his wonderful wife, Linda, and his family. Mike created a legacy that will live forever. Not only was he the best in his industry and extremely knowledgeable, he also treated people with respect and I will always admire that.
Rest in peace, Mike. You will be missed.
