So long farewell, to you my friend!
HI All!
I am nearly done packing for my move to the Los Angeles Dream Center this
Saturday and I wanted to send out a big thank you and a word of
encouragement to everyone before I moved.! First of all THANK YOU to everyone who was willing to pray and sacrifice their time, finances, and resources in order to help I Heart My City succeed in reaching out to our community. The support and encouragement we have received was what helped us impact lives for Christ!! My time spent as president and founder of I Heart My City has radically changed my life. I have learned and witnessed the true meaning behind who Jesus is. Plain and simple he is LOVE, he is
love poured out for all others. I heart My city's mission was to unite the body of Christ through sharing the love of Christ through serving others. Praise God we were able to do just that, but I find the best part of it all was that when we showed up to pour life and the love of Jesus into others, we the volunteers were in fact impacted so much more. Every single outreach
we did whether it be handing out brownies at NSU, cleaning up low
income neighborhoods throwing free worship nights in the park, and fundraisers my life was radially impacted. I learned to see beyond what meets the eyes and look into the broken hearts of people. I learned that we all have something to offer because God has instilled special gifts into each of us as part of his plan for our lives. We are the salt and light of the earth and are meant to help others see that in themselves!!!
When I started I Heart My City I was just a sophomore at LSU who got a word from God that I needed to move to thibodaux to learn to love the brokeness of my city and not just mope about the brokeness but take a step and do all that I could to change it.It all sounded crazy, but I knew i needed to take a step of faith and follow Gods leading. I can thankfully say that through
God I learned to do just that. Now with tears in my eyes as I leave
thibodaux, I must take another huge step of faith in my journey. Its time for me to see what else God wants to use me for in the world, hopefully he calls me back to thibodaux to use all that I learned to pour it back into thibodaux. Thank you to everyone for helping me along in this journey, you truly have all had a great impact in my life.
As i've mentioned before, I Heart My City is about reaching out to share the love of Christ through serving others. Just because the business part of I Heart My City has ended does not mean the heart and ministry is done. It is up to each of you to take the initiative and continue to serve the community whether or not there is someone giving you a specific time and place to do so. Use the talents and resources God has given you and start small by serving the people in your every day life. Change starts with Christ invading your heart and then you taking his love and bringing it to
others. Change starts with a choice. Now its up to all of you to continue to make a choice everyday to love and show love.
Thank You and LOVE you all! If you would like to stay in touch and keep
