Bayou Lafourche Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was honored to participate in the Assumption Parish Ready Start Network Early Childhood Day on Tuesday, June 23rd!

This wonderful event connected families with children ages 5 and under to valuable resources that will help prepare them for success in school. Parents had the opportunity to receive information and applications for child care, Head Start, and Pre-K enrollment while visiting a variety of community partners, including pediatric healthcare providers, the parish library, START Corporation, and many other organizations dedicated to supporting young learners.

The day was also filled with fun for the children, featuring a petting zoo, train rides, space walks, games, and so much more! BLAAC was proud to provide snacks for the children, and seeing the smiles and excitement on their faces made the day even more rewarding.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support our youngest learners and their families and look forward to continuing our partnership with the Assumption Parish School District as we work together to build stronger communities through service and education.❤️🤍🔺

Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.
