Restore or Retreat

Restore or Retreat The birth of Restore or Retreat, Inc.

(ROR) brought landowners, port commissions, parish governments, restoration advocates, levee experts, business owners and residents together for one purpose: to save our irreplaceable region. From our inception in 2000, ROR has advocated for such projects as freshwater and sediment diversions into the Barataria and Terrebonne Basins, marsh creation, shoreline restoration, and barrier island, just

to name a few. And through it all, we have called for heightened federal and sate attention to the Barataria and Terrebonne Basins though several different planning processes, including the State Master Plan and post-spill planning efforts like RESTORE Act and the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Process.

Momma is fussing, babies are hungry and arguing. Thanks to our friend John Snell for capturing the beauty and adorable chicks squawking at momma. John and our project coordinator both love these skimmers. Graceful in the air their numbers declining Gulf wide. Thanks John for capturing their beauty!

The Roseau cane is growing. South Lafourche levee foot stabilization. These plants act as a protective buffer for the levee and provide erosion control along with helping restore habitat. Coastal restoration to foster community resilience. For those asking the plants are locally sourced from RES in Montegut La. Soil compatibility is critical to survival rates and outcomes. Funding for this project made possible with funds from Coastal Protection Restoration Authority, Restore Americas Estuaries, private donors and the South Lafourche Levee District. Working collaboratively to restore our coast.
