Thanks to SPROUTS GREENHOUSE LLC , the wonderful greenhouse in Lander, for this great reminder about watering this weekend. We’ve had an unusually mild winter to date with very little moisture so it’s very important to water trees, shrubs and perennials so they can survive and thrive. You don’t have to hook up a hose. You can fill up a 5 gallon bucket of water and pour it around the base of trees and large shrubs. Smaller perennial flowers and plants and spring bulbs may only need 1-3 gallons, depending on their size. We have attached a couple of good resources below in the comments about winter watering.
Enjoy the warmer temperatures and sunshine the next 10 days. People LOVE these warmer temperatures but take care of your plants and gardens; they GET STRESSED when there’s extended warm temperatures and no water.

Wow! It’s going to be above 50 degrees this weekend. So don’t forget to heavily water your trees, shrubs, and perennials to keep them happy!

🌱 Supporting Local Food Across Wyoming 🌱

Rooted in Wyoming’s Mini-Grant Program helps strengthen local food systems beyond Sheridan and Johnson Counties by supporting producers, schools, and community organizations statewide.

In 2025, we awarded 15 mini-grants to projects across Wyoming, including a greenhouse at the Shoshoni Senior Center, edible mushroom gardening education in Lander, and irrigation for the Red Dirt Master Gardeners Community Garden in Thermopolis.

This program allows us to connect communities through local food and discover new ways to support food producers across the state. The Mini-Grant Program will continue in 2026, with applications opening in January each year.
