Twenty two years ago on September 15, 1999, Kim Jones went to heaven at the age of 23.

Just a short time before her death, Kim said that she was ready to meet her best friend, Jesus.

Kim’s light and her story still shine bright through the ministry, The Light Still Shines.

Please visit The Light Still Shines website and read how God has brought triumph through the tragedy at Wedgwood Baptist Church.

Wedgwood Baptist presented a beautiful and inspiring 20th anniversary memorial service for the seven martyrs of 9/15/1999 tragic shooting, including our sweet friend, Kim Jones. The church was overflowing.

God has brought triumph from tragedy. Several of the families who lost loved ones shared their stories, testimonies and emotional memories of that dark night.

The Wedgwood choir led the congregation in praise and worship.

Dr. Al Meredith, former pastor at Wedgwood was guest speaker and Steven Curtis Chapman sang via live video broadcast.

Kim’s light still shines as bright as ever!!

While Kim was attending Texas Christian University in the late 1990’s, she initiated the first ever bible study at her sorority, Delta Gamma.

After Kim went to heaven in 1999, her friends at TCU and Delta Gamma along with donors, constructed and dedicated a memorial garden/sitting area to Kim's memory.

Kim Jones, only 23 years old, and six others were gunned down while praising and worshipping in church.

Please see the information below for the 20th year memorial service on September 15, 2019 that was posted by Wedgwood Baptist Church..

On September 15, 1999, a shooter walked into the south entrance of Wedgwood Baptist Church. He aimed a gun at some people, shot a couple of people in the hallway, and walked into the worship center where the youth were having a concert to celebrate See You At the Pole. It is now twenty years later,....

A message from Stephanie Jones...

My devotion this morning touched my heart and soul.
I pray it will bless you as it did me.

The Torn Veil
It was a dark and somber day in the outskirts of Jerusalem.
On a hill outside the city walls, a Man who had been attracting crowds of eager followers for the past three years hung in disgrace and pain on a rough wooden cross. People wept in sorrow. The light of the sun no longer brightened the afternoon sky. And the intense suffering of the Man on the cross ended when He cried out in a loud voices, “it is finished” (Matthew 27:50).
At that very moment, another sound came from the great temple across town- the sound of ripping fabric. Miraculously, without human intervention, the huge, thick veil that separated the outer temple from the holy of hollies tore in two from top to bottom Matthew 27:51).
That torn curtain symbolized the reality of the cross: a new way was now open to God! Jesus, the Man on the cross, had shed His blood as the last sacrifice( Hebrews 10:10)-which allows all who believe in Him to enjoy forgiveness and enter into a relay with God (Romans 5:6-11).
Amidst the darkness of that original Good Friday, we received the best news ever—
Jesus opened a way for us to be saved from our sins and to experience fellowship with God forever (Hebrews 10:19-22).

Taking time from the busyness of my life to take a moment to reflect the miracle of the death and resurrection of Jesus and the choice He gives us to choose eternity because of His love for us. Praying these thoughts touch your heart on this journey we call life.
Happy Easter!
His Light Shines.

a special message from Stephanie Jones...

Hi sweet friends! Today, April the 11th, Kim would have been 43.

The flowers in the background are Bluebonnets. I was thinking about the day we made a trip to enjoy the beautiful views of these wildflowers as a family outing. Remembering that special day, and in looking at this picture, I figured out I was 43 the day this picture was taken.
Interesting thought.

Rejoicing in what Jesus did for us in giving us an opportunity to choose eternity! Kim did! How exciting and what joy it brings to my heart to know she is in the presence of our Lord and her best friend Jesus! Rejoicing, grateful and thankful. However, we still miss her, that great smile, listening to her stories, her laughter and so much more.

Happy Birthday Kim!
We love you and are looking forward to a time when we will all be together again.
