Hands Across Texas has had to regretfully cancel the benefit concert scheduled for June 2nd to help our West, TX friends. We could not come to an agreement with our preferred choice of venue and all our other options for venues were booked for that date. We believe that our events are geared for the entire family to attend and participate in together. In the guidelines that we had to follow, families with members under 21 would have been separated and put in a confined area away from all the fun, music, food, etc. We were also expected to pay $100/hr for security provided by the venue. We were not allowed to provide our own security that could have been donated at no cost. We felt that by paying for the security we would be taking money away from those that we are trying to actually help. We are happy to see though, so many wonderful Texans helping the good people of West, TX.
We would like offer an alternative for the same day that we had our benefit concert scheduled. We hope to see everyone attend the 15th Annual Wade Bowen Music Festival on June 2nd in Waco, TX. All proceeds raised will be going to help the victims of West, TX. This will be an awesome concert with great musicians such as Wade Bowen, Josh Abbott Band, Neal McCoy, Randy Rogers, Pat Green, Billy Joe Shaver, Aaron Watson, Roger Creager and many more. Oh...did I also mention the amazing Josie Drenner from Josie Drenner Photography will be onsite and doing her camera magic.
We would like to start planning for a rainy day fund benefit concert to help raise money NOW, so that we can immediately help those that are suffering from when a tragic incident arises, such as the deadly wildfires back in 2011, or the devastation at West Texas or the destruction in Oklahoma caused by tornadoes. More info to follow, but we have big plans to help those that need our help!
