Our Tigers won TWO elimination games today in the loser’s bracket to reach the final day of the USSSA Gulf Coast B-class Nationals tomorrow. Lots of impressive individual performances, but this right here means the most to me as the head coach.
We drill into the girls’ heads that at this level of softball, we want to HIT. Our goal at the plate isn’t to work the pitcher and get deep in the count and draw a walk; our goal is to not strike out. WE WANT TO HIT! In this 3rd bracket game, facing a decent pitcher, we had 0 strikeouts in 20 plate appearances! Sure, we only scored 2 runs, but we had the opposition on their heels nervous the whole game because they knew we were up there to hit!
It’s been a long road getting these bats going like this, so we are dang proud of the girls for doing it as a team! Great work today Tigers! —Coach Zach
