Bloodhound Donation Guidelines for Law Enforcement Agencies

Please let us know via email or text when you will be taking possession of the bloodhound. Please email or text us photos when the handler picks up the dog or meets the dog for the first time. The more photos you send us the better. Please let us know in advance what you plan to n

ame the dog or if you are asking for the public’s help. If you plan on posting on social media, please state:

We realize that many agencies do not have a public relations department. We are happy to help you write a press release and distribute to your local media. In fact, we encourage this. Schedule permitting and with advance notice, a representative from the Jimmy Ryce Center is happy to attend a dedication or ceremony at your agency. From time to time, it’s OK to say, “The Jimmy Ryce Center”

Please refrain from saying, “Jimmy Ryce Foundation”

It goes without saying that serving the public always comes first. If your K-9 officer and the bloodhound have found a missing child or adult we’d love to know about it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you! Mark Young

21 children. 3 days. One mission.

We applaud the National Child Protection Task Force and the more than 145 local, state, and federal partners who worked together to locate 21 missing and at-risk children across Southwest Florida.

Every child safely recovered is a reminder of why collaboration, vigilance, and child protection efforts matter. We are grateful for the dedicated professionals who never stop searching and for the organizations helping these children begin the road to healing.

🐾 A wonderful outcome in Hillsborough County!

This is exactly why rapid response and trained search resources matter so much for missing and endangered individuals. Stories like Ray’s remind us that every second counts — and that the right tools and teams save lives.

Thank you to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and K-9 Boomer for bringing Ray home. 🐕💙

The Editorial Board of the Miami Herald — through the powerful words of Opinion Editor Amy Driscoll — recognized something our community has known for 30 years: Jimmy Ryce’s name represents far more than a tragedy. It represents a turning point in our community, in child advocacy, in victims’ rights, and in the fight to protect children.

For the Miami Herald to state that the co-designation of “Jimmy Ryce Avenue” “absolutely the right thing to do” is a tremendous and deeply meaningful acknowledgment of Jimmy’s legacy, the advocacy of Don and Claudine Ryce, and the continued mission of the Jimmy Ryce Center.

Jimmy’s short life changed Miami-Dade forever. His legacy continues to save lives.

Thank you to Amy Driscoll and the Miami Herald for ensuring that Jimmy’s story — and the importance of never forgetting — continues to be told.
