Thanks to Jim Bays, SOUL and Keep Pinellas Beautiful, Round Lake will get a cleanup on October 4 from 9:30-11:30. Volunteers will pick up debris in our alleyways and streets, often hundreds of pounds of trash. Other helpers will w**d the lake and the plant islands floating in it. Something for everyone. Hope to see you there, we can use your help.

HUNA will have a meeting at Round Lake this Thursday, May 19th, and the new Environmental Services Director, Mike Perry, will be there to discuss the status of Round Lake. A new plan is being hatched and we can be a part of it!

We will also be looking at placing a Florida Historical Marker at the lake, through a program sponsored by the FL Division of Historical Resources. This is a photo of the old trolley stop at Round Lake.

We hope to see you at the lake at 7PM.

If you want to help Round Lake send an email to City Council Member Gina Driscoll and tell her you care about Round Lake and want the City to do all it can to restore the lake to its former self. The City is not moving forward on requesting a permit to augment Round Lake so we will never be able to voice our comments to the Water District. [email protected]

As our beloved Round Lake sunk to its lowest depths ever, our residents voiced their concerns on Facebook and to each other. Round Lake seemed to be disappearing before our very eyes. Many reached out to City officials to try to get their attention, searching for information to our questions. Finally, the City has responded. The lake is fed by water that is pumped into it from a well, as well as rainwater that enters from stormdrains and from the sky. The City has determined that the pump for the well is broken and a part has been ordered. We will keep you posted and we are grateful to everyone who reached out so we could get some action. Hopefully, our lake will be back to its old self soon.
