🧡 Orange isn’t an official flag color—but in the sky, it’s bold, bright, and impossible to ignore. It reminds us of energy, determination, and the fierce warmth of community.

🔬 That glowing tangerine hue? It’s created by a fiery combo of calcium salts, especially calcium chloride (CaCl₂). When heated, calcium emits a rich orange light around 590–620 nanometers—the same range as a campfire or golden hour in the Gorge.

🔥 But there’s an art to it: too much calcium, and the color turns yellow. Too little, and it gets lost in the red. That perfect punch of orange takes precise chemical balance—just like a good fireworks show takes the balance of planning, passion, and local support.

❤️ In the American flag, red stands for valor and bravery—a tribute to those who protect our freedom. Every red firework is a bold reminder that freedom isn’t free.

🔬 The science? Red fireworks are powered by strontium compounds—especially strontium carbonate (SrCO₃). When ignited, strontium atoms get excited (literally!) and release energy as brilliant red light. That glow falls in the 606–650 nanometer range, the same vivid spectrum as a blazing sunset.

🔥 Strontium doesn’t just make things red—it helps stabilize the flame, ensuring the color burns strong and steady. That red burst in the sky? It’s elemental bravery, forged in heat and light.
