First layer of fiberglass waterproofing on the shelf is done! Hopefully we can get it all sealed and then no more dripping wet wood in the forward cabin!

Awards & Recognition!!

A few weeks ago Cascade Pacific Council recognized Annika Baumgarten with the Sea Scout Leadership Award! Her excellence in service, perseverance in keeping a brand new ship together through Covid at just age 15, and now busy with college, stepping up into the COR roll for both SSS Freedom - Sea Scout Ship #399 and Troop #398 is just the tip of the iceberg for everything she has given back to scouting. Congratulations, Annika!!!

Additionally, tonight, SSS Freedom - Ship 399 was recognized with the Top Unit of the Year award by the Mid-Columbia District!

Thank you to everyone that has helped play a part in all our successes, from our own scout leaders; leaders from other units, the district, & the council; parents; friends; business partners; sponsors; donors; and of course our youth scouts. Every small part contributes to the success of our Ship. Thank you so much!!!

Getting ready for Long Cruise, raising the mast, practicing some line handling specific to the locks, teaching new crew how to coil line and where things live on the boat.

Great work party tonight! There are 3 separate bilge sections in our boat. This is the bilge in the forward cabin. We inherited the boat with this water in it. No telling how long it's been there. We pumped an estimated 45 gallons out by hand tonight. Then scrubbed all the grime out and wiped it down with simple green. Now it smells minty fresh!

We had an incredibly successful weekend at Nor'Wester Regatta. This is such an amazing group of people!!!

Four local Sea Scouts placed in multiple events at a regional Regatta, but say the biggest wins came in confidence, teamwork and stepping outside their comfort zones.
