ISE Sunbelt Region

ISE Sunbelt Region ISE is a non-profit organization that connects exceptional international students with loving American host families.

Hosting a foreign exchange student means opening your home and your heart to a teen from another country while they attend your local public high school. ISE has many different hosting programs available. Opportunities are available for periods of 5 months, 10 months or a full 12 month program, with the most common being the 10 month academic year program. Exchange Students who participate in the

program have been carefully screened before their acceptance. Participants are selected based on their academic achievements and their extracurricular interests. Interviewers identify individuals who demonstrate a curious, optimistic view on the challenges and adventures lying before them. Accepted students are responsible, outgoing and possess an adaptable nature. ISE partners are looking for "great kids" with positive attitudes and interests which have something special to offer a Host Family during their hosting experience.

I was in the middle of my prayer time when I received a message from a Facebook friend. It was crazy last-minute, but she wondered if we would consider hosting the 16-year-old son of a friend of hers from Spain for three weeks. I hadn't seen my Facebook friend in years, I didn't know her Spanish fri...

School starts on Monday throughout the state of Texas. We still have high school boys packed and waiting to come over here from countries around the world to spend the year with a volunteer host family. All you need to provide is 3 meals a day, a bed, a place to study and lots of hugs. The student will come with his own spending money for personal items, clothes, school supplies and after school activities, and a health insurance card in case they get sick.
If you can't host for a full year, you can be a WELCOME FAMILY for 6 to 8 weeks.
If you can host or know someone who can, please facebook me or call: (214) 538-6175

Great advice from a host dad on how to deal with the end-of-program blues:

"I have had 13 foreign sons and the 14th coming in August, with one I hosted in 2008 visiting in August for the 3rd time. Taking them to the airport at the end of the school year is the worst day of my year and never gets easier because I am afraid I will never see them again. But the 10 months as a family far outweighs the one day saying goodbye. Facebook is a miracle to me as it allows me to remain in contact with my sons!!!!" http://ow.ly/XFjd301cPSy

"Being a foreign exchange student turned my life upside down for the good. I learned what life’s true meaning is. It’s been hard trying to adapt to my old life since part of me is still in America. I know I shouldn’t do this, but I worry too much. I worry my host family is gonna forget me, or that when my friends graduate and go to college they are just gonna make new friends and stop caring about me, the one they used to love like family. I get over this fear knowing that no matter were I am, the relationships I made are for life. This experience taught me everything I am proud of. I learned how to trust people, trust me and trust that everything good takes time. ISE is proof that there still is good people out there. I bet it’s hard opening your home to a random kid with different culture and language. I can only say, THANK YOU, for changing my life 180 degrees and for giving me the best experience of all my life. Part of me will always live in that ‘small town’… the one that changed my life"
