More HBSentines events! ❤️

What a memorable and inspiring pre-Valentine’s evening at Dallas’ finest jeweler. Hosted in the beautiful Preston Road gallery, the setting was warm, elegant, and welcoming—an ideal backdrop to enjoy a glass of wine, taste artisanal cheeses, and experience extraordinary, one-of-a-kind jewelry and timepieces up close.

The highlight of the evening was hearing directly from the Boulle family. Denis and Karen Boulle shared the remarkable story of founding deBoulle in 1983 with a vision of offering a premier collection of fine jewelry and luxury timepieces, paired with impeccable service in a gracious environment. Now a thriving multi-generation business of more than 40 years, the legacy continues with the second generation—Emma and Nick—each bringing their own perspective and passion to the brand.

All four family members spoke candidly about their journey, their values, and their distinctive approach to marketing and merchandising. It was a rare opportunity to see not just a luxury brand, but the family heart behind it. Guests left inspired, having enjoyed an exceptional evening of craftsmanship, hospitality, and entrepreneurial insight.

Hope everyone had a great Valentines weekend… here at HBSCD, we celebrated HBSentines in style ❤️

Our private pre-Valentine’s experience at was a true delight from start to finish. Guests enjoyed an expertly curated tasting of eight small-production cheeses paired beautifully with hand-crafted chocolates, complemented by two sparkling wines that elevated every bite.

The chocolate and cheese pairings were exquisite—surprising, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Each combination showcased the complexity and craftsmanship behind these artisanal creations.

A special thank you to our gracious host, Scardello, who did a phenomenal job guiding us through the tasting with warmth, expertise, and enthusiasm. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the evening was the perfect blend of gourmet education and festive fun.

On January 10, conducted a hugely successful New Venture Bowl. Out of many excellent applicants, nine selected startups presented to a packed room and a panel of experienced investors, including John Jaggers (HBS 1979), Phil Migicovsky (HBS 1979), and D.R. Rockwell (HBS 2019). Each presenter was an HBS or Harvard alum or a close connection, with companies ranging from AI to advanced manufacturing, several of which are already scaling rapidly. Each of the more than 60 audience members was invited to vote for their favorite presenters by allocating portions of an imaginary $1 million investment portfolio. The winners in order, by “invested” dollars, were: 1. Timberfiber (Andrew Mondi, HBS 2010), 2. Neovi (Kyle Smith), and 3. First Phone License (Amy Blankson, HC 2002 and Dr. Kwabena Blankson, HC 2001). NestProtect (Leo Schnabel) garnered the third-largest number of investors and won the Rookie of the Year award.

had lunch with JP Morgan Private Bank’s local leadership team on January 15th at their new headquarters overlooking Klyde Warren Park. Managing Director Ashley Herbst (MBA 2011) arranged for experts from the local team to present what the firm expects to see in the economy and capital markets during 2026. Thanks to Managing Director Jamie Lavin Buzzard and Executive Directors Annika Cail and John Killen for providing great hospitality and an exceptional perspective on the state of the market.

As part of our Professional Development Series, we were recently treated to an outstanding virtual presentation, Planning for the Non-Financial Side of Retirement, led by Sue Mintz who is a Certified Retirement transition coach. The turnout was among the highest the Club has ever had. Highlights are as follows:

🎯 Retirement preparation is more than reaching financial targets

📝As ones plans for retirement, it is important to understand the benefits of, and risks for not planning for the non-financial side of retirement

✅ Becoming aware of non-financial benefits we lose after retiring, and how to replace them is key when planning for retirement.

💰 Having money in the bank helps us sleep at night, but it doesn’t get us out of bed in the morning!

A recording of the presentation is available on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcGAJuTPQX4

A private, inside look at the future Terminal F at is an experience few ever get, and this week our HBS alumni did just that! The new terminal is “scheduled for takeoff” next year, and got a behind the scenes look at all the progress through our Real Estate SIG.
