This was a busy, incredibly rewarding week for the Neopte team!

While we missed the official Student Signing Day event at we made sure to celebrate our next generation of skilled workers. We hit the road to support six trade-bound students, equipping them with the essential apprenticeship toolsets and gear they need to kickstart their careers.

Additionally, we had the honor of attending the Senior Scholarship Night, where we sponsored two grants for two amazing university-bound students taking the next step in their academic journeys.

Investing in the future looks different for every student; whether they’re heading to the job site or the lecture hall, we are proud to back them every step of the way.

Please join us in welcoming Meagan Clemons as our new Board Secretary. Meagan has served as a Board Director with the Neopte Foundation since its inception and has played an integral part on the team. She steps into this role with a strong commitment to advancing our mission and supporting the continued growth of our organization.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Josh Zuilkowski for his service in this capacity. Josh will continue to lead as Board Chair, ensuring continuity and strategic direction for the organization.

Yesterday, the Neopte leadership team, including our CEO, CFO, and one of our Board Directors, had a fantastic time connecting with talented students at the Lewisville ISD Student Job Fair.

We were there to share the refreshed Neopte Intern Program, a mission-driven, 12-week journey designed specifically to break down barriers for students from low-opportunity backgrounds. By providing hands-on experience in Operations, Business Development, and Marketing, we’re helping these students build a professional foundation for university, trade school, and beyond.

The energy at the fair was incredible, and we are more inspired than ever to support the workforce of tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Lewisville ISD for hosting such a high-impact event!

The Neopte Foundation exists for one reason: to provide purpose to youth from low-opportunity backgrounds and a roadmap for pursuing higher education (university & trades).

As we move into our new season of growth, we are announcing a transition in our Board leadership. After almost 3 years of supporting the foundation, Omar Bhagat has informed us that he will be stepping down as Board Chair and Director. We are deeply grateful for Omar's leadership and time spent helping us build this foundation.

Effective immediately, Josh Zuilkowski will step into the role of Board Chair. Josh, who currently serves as the Foundation's Secretary, will assume this dual responsibility to ensure a seamless transition and continued momentum for our programs.

With Josh's leadership and our community's support, we remain more focused than ever on providing the purpose, direction, and resources to Empower Students to Reach Their Full Potential™.

For years, the gap between student innovation and professional validation has been too wide. Today, we close it with the Neopte Journal of Applied Mobility - NJAM.

Why wait for a degree to contribute to the global body of knowledge? At the Neopte Foundation, we see incredible innovation in CTE programs, pre-apprenticeships, and technical tracks. NJAM is being established as a peer-reviewed, open-access platform designed to enable students, whether university-bound or trade-bound, to publish and access high-quality research for free.

We are intentionally paving a path for both university and trade-bound students to:

✅ Publish original research and technical portfolios.
✅ Access peer-reviewed insights without a paywall.
✅ Demonstrate competency to employers and admissions boards.

Following a year of record impact in 2025, we are pleased to announce the strategic expansion of our leadership team, effective immediately, to support our 2026 growth initiatives.

Luke Seddon – Chief Financial Officer
An SMU Cox School of Business alumnus, Luke is a mission-driven leader with a proven track record of translating complex financial data into actionable strategy. As CFO, he will direct the foundation’s fiscal policy, overseeing comprehensive financial planning and ensuring our financial architecture supports sustainable growth and transparency.

Joe Longoria – Board Advisor
With over 20 years of executive experience, Joe brings a master-class perspective on large-scale financial operations and enterprise governance. As Board Advisor, he will provide the Board and CEO with high-level advisory on regulatory alignment, risk mitigation, and capital structure. Additionally, Joe will serve as a strategic sounding board, ensuring our strategies are anchored in transparency and positioned for long-term institutional sustainability.

These strategic appointments reinforce our commitment to fiscal excellence and institutional integrity. With this strengthened leadership, we are better positioned than ever to scale our impact and deliver on our promises for the year ahead. Over the past year, we focused on making an impact on the communities we serve. From donations of tools and apprenticeship licenses to awarding our first Neopte Scholar Fund grants, the Neopte Foundation helped change the lives of 57 students across Texas and Pennsylvania. This significant achievement is shared with our donors and strategic partners who helped make this possible! As we look towards 2026, we are filled with excitement and determination to continue delivering against our mission.

Last month, we awarded 48 apprenticeship licenses to an incredible group of students at TECC West / Lewisville ISD! These licenses represent more than just opportunities; they’re stepping stones toward meaningful careers, hands-on experience, and a stronger, more equitable workforce.

We are thrilled to welcome Elesia Thurston as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Neopte Foundation! In this role, Elesia will help manage daily operations, oversee our interns, implement the strategic vision, and drive sustainable growth as we continue our mission to provide purpose to youth from low-opportunity backgrounds with direction in pursuit of higher education!

Elesia recently graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Studies focusing on business management, sociology, and criminal justice. We’re excited for the impact Elesia will make and the leadership she will bring to our team and the communities we serve.
