The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested three Mexican nationals, Martinez Felix Nemecto, Jesus López Valles, and Torrero Juan Carlos, along with seven Nigerian collaborators, including a suspected drug baron, Anochili Innocent, in Ogun State, Nigeria.

They were arrested on May 16, 2026, in a sting operation carried out on a drug production facility in a forest around Ijebu area of Ogun state.

Authorities describe the secret facility as the largest m**hamphetamine laboratory facility ever discovered in Nigeria. A m**h laboratory that is illegally used to produce m**hamphetamine, a highly dangerous and addictive synthetic stimulant.

The operation was carried out by the agency’s special unit after several months of intelligence gathering, which targeted a concealed facility in a forest in Ogun State and another secret facility in Lagos state.

It was a successful operation that totally dismantled the production syndicate jointly operated by Nigerian traffickers and Mexican collaborators.

The seizure included chemicals and crystal m**h with an estimated street value of $363 million.

The NDLEA officials warned that international cartels are increasingly exploiting rural communities in Nigeria as production hubs for the highly addictive stimulant.

The NDLEA chairman, Mohammed Marwa, warned drug cartels operating in Nigeria, stating that the country should be considered a hostile environment for their criminal activities, emphasizing that a crackdown on local and transnational networks is expected to intensify, with the agency committed to disrupting the operations of drug cartels in Nigeria.

The New York City Health Department issued the following statement on behalf of New York City Health Commissioner Dr. Alister Martin following New York City resident disembarking the MV Hondius cruise ship:
“Today, three New York state residents who were passengers on the MV Hondius cruise ship arrived at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. One passenger is from New York City. All three are expected to be subject to a 42-day monitoring period.

The NYC Health Department is working in close coordination with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the New York State Department of Health, and other local health departments to monitor the situation. At this point we do not know how long these individuals will stay in Nebraska and whether or when those individuals will return to New York.
