Meet the cast of Something Rotten! at the Annual Broadway Gala 🌟

Alex Walton (Shakespeare) is just happy to be home. Recent credits include Winthrop in the 2002 RRS production of The Music Man and Roger in the 2008 RRS production of RENT. Other credits include Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie (5th Avenue Theatre), Brad in Rocky Horror (Pioneer Theatre), David in Extra Innings (VOD), and FBI: Most Wanted (CBS). Forever and endlessly thankful to his mother for creating this magical little world. It’s an honor to be honoring her tonight and it is truly the least we can all do! For 25 plus years, she has poured her love, heart, passion, and soul into this community, empowering and transforming so many lives along the way - including his.. A bio can’t do it justice but he is a lucky son and he is so very proud of his mom. And his dad and sister too! Alex just really loves his whole family and getting a chance to share this tiny stage with them. Shout out to Olive, Blossom, Max and LMK. Enjoy the show!

Emily Walton (Portia) is so happy to be performing in yet another wonderful Broadway Gala with so many friends (and family members)! She went from being in the first RRS production ever — we’re talking in the year 2000 — to choreographing many of the RRS productions as a young adult, to getting to perform on a few Broadway stages, most recently in Come From Away (which you can also watch her in on Apple TV+)! Emily is now working as a psychotherapist in Manhattan with Creative Care Mental Health Counseling. She is very honored to be on this new career path, hoping to help others navigate life’s difficulties and find ease. Emily is endlessly proud of her mom, Laurie, for transforming this community with her singular passion and love. Nobody deserves this honor more than her. She is also endlessly proud of her dad, Bob, for all of his countless musical (and comedic) contributions over these last 25 years of the program. She is also ALSO endlessly proud of her brother, Alex, for continuously honing his creativity and finding new ways to express his immense talent. And while she has your attention, she’d also like to mention that she loves her fiancé, Max, a bassist turned superstar software engineer, and her daughters, Olive (2.5 years old) and Blossom (9 months old)! Cheers to mom and her unbelievable legacy. Enjoy the show.

Meet the cast of Something Rotten! at the Annual Broadway Gala 🌟

Laurie Walton (Bea) brought the Riverdale Rising Stars to the Y 25 years ago, never imagining the impact it would have on countless teens, adults & children. She could never have achieved this milestone without the enormous support from her husband, her children & the unwavering devotion of the hundreds of teens & parents who have touched her life in an indescribable way throughout these years that have flown by. As an actor Laurie has been seen on Broadway & in regional theaters all over the country. A guest spot on the television show “Frasier” (which reruns constantly) helps her stay in touch with old friends who hear that unmistakable voice & reach out to say hello! Married to the aforementioned Bob Walton, they are most honored to be the parents of two amazing people, RRS alums Emily & Alex Walton. And now, giddy grandparents to 28 month old Olive AND 9 month old Blossom!!

Bob Walton (Nick Bottom) Broadway: Girl From The North Country, The Drowsy Chaperone, 42nd Street, Once Upon A Mattress, Showboat, City of Angels and many Off Broadway and Regional productions. TV credits include Law and Order: SVU, Nurse Jackie, Person of Interest, The Good Wife, Elementary and others. As a writer: Can You Dig It? The Off-Broadway play Game Show. With his brother, Jim Walton, they have written several shows, including Mid-Life! (The Crisis Musical), Mid-Life 2! ? A Day In Gloucester, Double Trouble (A Musical Tour de Farce), which had successful runs in Tokyo and Shanghai. The sequel, A Hollywood Ending, premiered in Tokyo earlier this year. The best part is sharing the stage with Laurie, Emily and Alex. Love to Olive, Blossom and Max.
