Recently I attended a virtual foster family support group in order to write this post. Navigating the complexities of foster care can be challenging, so I thought the meeting would be serious and all business. But instead what I found was a lively, friendly, funny exchange between the case worker team and attendees. The conversation flowed easily and the participants readily shared information and resources to problem solve in real time. Sadly I learned that only a small percentage of foster families actually attend these meetings and I hope this post encourages more to take advantage of this valuable resource. Here’s why:
