This year’s theme, “A Canvas of Community Growth and Opportunity,” reflects our shared commitment to painting the future of our district and shaping what we want Castle Hill to look like today and for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 3rd Annual Meeting. Together, we reflected on many accomplishments, discussed our vision for the future, and honored several outstanding individuals whose contributions help make the Castle Hill BID such a special and vibrant community.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Board of Directors, our incredible Executive Director, and all of our stakeholders—including our small businesses, property owners, and residents. Your continued support, partnership, and commitment are the foundation of our success.

We remain dedicated to supporting our businesses, beautifying our corridor, creating meaningful programming, and strengthening partnerships throughout our community.

Together, we will continue building a district that reflects the very best of Castle Hill and creates opportunities for generations to come.💜

Thank you to our very own for hosting our annual meeting.

Bronx BIDs recently met with Small Business Services Commissioner Kenny Minaya and his team, “Mom and Pop” Czar Delia Awusi, Economic Justice Advisor Kelly Gu, and our local agency partners — Frank Lettera from DSNY, Holly Malone from DOT, DSS Assistant Commissioner Yuri Sanchez, and Arianna Cabrera from DOB — to discuss the challenges facing our commercial corridors and explore meaningful solutions together.

Our Business Improvement District executive directors remain deeply committed to creating thriving, safer, and cleaner districts, and we know that strong collaboration with our city partners is essential to making that vision a reality. Together, we can drive real change.

We look forward to continuing these collaborations, having candid conversations, brainstorming solutions, and creating tangible, lasting impact for the communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet, share concerns, contribute ideas, and commit to being a voice for positive change

Thank you NYC police Commisoner Jessica Tisch & the NYPD for hosting this event. To have the opportunity to meet the new Bronx South Patrol Chief, Chief Brian C. Hennessy.

Castle Hill and the South Bronx now fall under Bronx South as the Bronx officially splits into two patrol boroughs to bring more resources, and stronger community policing to our neighborhoods.

Looking forward to positive change and stronger community relationships. 💙

What a beautiful time at the 45th Precinct Annual Community Council Breakfast, led by our very own Bob Bider, owner and merchant of Westchester SQ Plumbing Supply.

We gathered with our local officials, partners, and our amazing 45th Precinct to honor the officers who go out of their way every day to protect and serve. We also recognized civilians who contribute so much to our community.

We are grateful to be a part of these events where we can come together, show appreciation, and honor those who serve and support our neighborhoods.

Today’s Annual Bankers Breakfast was a reminder of what happens when we come together to strength, invest and provide capital and financial opportunity to our communities.

The Castle Hill BID is grateful to stand alongside dedicated BID directors, partners and advocates who continue doing the work to push the Bronx forward.

Together, we’re not only making a difference - we’re being the difference for our corridors, our community and the Bronx as a whole! 💜

🚨 NYC BUSINESS OWNERS: SECURITY GATE LAW UPDATE 🚨

Join us on April 16 from an informative session where all your questions can be answered!

By July 1, 2026, all storefront security gates must be SEE-THROUGH.

👉 At least 70% visibility into your store is required
❌ Solid roll-down metal gates are NOT allowed

⚠️ If your gate is solid → you’ll need to replace it with an open-grille gate

💡 WHY THIS MATTERS:
• Helps emergency responders see inside
• Reduces crime & vandalism
• Keeps neighborhoods safer & more inviting

💸 Non-compliance = violations & fines

⏳ Don’t wait until the deadline — permits + installation take time!

BXEDC Is offering a mi loan and financing options to assist.

🚨 NYC BUSINESS ADVISORY 🚨

SOLID-PANEL SECURITY GATES MUST BE UPDATED

⚠️ Is Your Security Gate Compliant?

Under New York City Local Law 75 of 2009, most NYC businesses must meet updated visibility requirements for roll-down security gates.

✅ REQUIRED:

Minimum 70% VISIBILITY when gate is fully closed

🏬 Who Is Affected?

✔ Retail Stores (Occupancy Group M)
✔ Offices & Commercial Spaces (Occupancy Group B)
✔ New AND Existing Installations

📅 DEADLINE: JULY 1, 2026

All affected gates must comply —
regardless of installation year.

💰 Penalties for Non-Compliance

Enforced by the
New York City Department of Buildings

Major Violation Issued

Gates installed after July 1, 2011:
• First Offense: $250+
• Subsequent Offenses: $1,000+

Violations may be resolved if corrected and certified with DOB within 90 days.

🔍 WHY THIS MATTERS

✔ Improves street visibility
✔ Enhances public safety
