September 19 was a pretty special Saturday 🎂

Anya turned 9, put on her party dress, and brought her family and friends to a Produce Party to spend the morning serving their neighbors. Now THAT is a birthday party 🥳

Nearly 200 volunteers came out that day and moved 11,891 lbs of fresh produce 🥭🥒🍓🍆🥬🫑🍅 to 1,500+ families across 26 communities in The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

🔥 Shoutouts:

• — the Larchmont Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s Realty crew bringing some Larchmont neighbor energy to the Produce Party 🏡

• MAPC Day School (MAPC Day School) — proof that the littlest hands get it done too 🧸

• Woodmont Day Camp (Woodmont Day Camp) — keeping summer going well into September ☀️

💚 Huge thanks to GG Produce Party Animal @.madisondavis. and her family for rallying their communities and bringing MAPC and Woodmont along.

🌟 And to GG service leader Teddy, who raised more than $3,000 and brought her family and friends through the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation Youth Ambassador Program (Henrik Lundqvist Foundation).

Birthdays, schools, camps, neighbors, friends — everybody found a way to get in on the Produce Party action!

September Saturdays are officially in full swing 🍂

200 volunteers packed the Produce Party last Saturday, moving 10,941 lbs of fresh produce — 🍇🍓🍌🫑🥬🥒 — to reach 1,200+ families across 23 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

🔥 Shoutout to:

• Boston College Alumni— back for their FOURTH ANNUAL Produce Party! The Eagles keep making service part of the tradition 🦅

• Irvington Presbyterian Church - bringing their church community out for a Saturday spent serving neighbors together ⛪

• Mocha Moms Westchester - moms showing up for families beyond their own and bringing plenty of community spirit with them 💜

A packed lot, a lot of helping hands, and one very good September Saturday.

Back to school. Back to Saturdays. And the green vests came ready 💚

More than 150 volunteers joined us for the first Produce Party of September, moving 10,273 lbs of fresh produce — 🫑🌽🍓🍍🥬 — to reach 1,400+ families across 23 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

This week, our service leaders stole the show.

They’re the familiar faces in green vests scattered throughout the lot — welcoming first-timers, answering questions, and helping turn 150 people and 10,000+ lbs of produce into one very fun Saturday morning 🦺

So this week, the shoutout belongs to them. Our Produce Party Animals who keep choosing to come back and help make the magic happen.

We sent summer out the Produce Party way ☀️

More than 150 volunteers packed the lot last Saturday, moving 9,574 lbs of fresh produce — 🍋🍍🫐🌽🥦🥒 — to reach 1,400+ families across 23 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

🔥 Shoutout to:

• Weill Cornell Medicine Office of Culture, Inclusion & Employee Experience (Weill Cornell Medicine Weill Cornell Medicine.medstudents) — joining us in The Bronx for their very first Produce Party! 🩺

• Konnekt Global (Konnekt Global Konnekt Westchester) — with their Westchester and New Jersey chapters turning connection into action and bringing young people together in service 🌎

• YMSL Greenwich (YMSLGREENWCH) — moms and sons, grades 9–12, making a difference one Saturday of service at a time 💪

And thank you Anna from Stand Together Foundation (Stand Together) for coming out to experience what happens when neighbors are given the opportunity to contribute, lead, and serve alongside one another 🤝

Our last summer Saturday brought one of our biggest volunteer turnouts of the season. Amazing way to close it out!

New York City showed up for a Saturday of service 🗽

Last Saturday, 100+ volunteers moved 11,619 lbs of fresh produce — 🍌🍅🍍🫑🥬🍓🥒 — reaching 1,200+ families across 17 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

• NYC Service (NYC Service) — joining us as part of , their citywide celebration of volunteerism and civic engagement across all five boroughs 🙌

• The Bronx Borough President’s Office (Bronx BP Vanessa L. Gibson) — thank you David Ahmed Coulibaly for coming out with Las Femmes Battantes and spending the morning in service to The Bronx 💪

And thank you to our service leaders for helping keep the day moving 🦺!

Summer may be winding down, but the Produce Party is still very much turned up ☀️

Last Saturday, 125+ volunteers moved 11,244 lbs of fresh produce — 🌽🫑🍓🥬🧅 — reaching 1,500+ families across 22 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

🔥 Shoutout to:

• Ardis Carlos (Ardis Carlos-Alim) — a true Produce Party Animal who rallied her August birthday crew to celebrate ALL the August birthdays with a morning of service 🎂

• Curriculum Kweens (Curriculum Kweens) — bringing their signature joy, curiosity, and love of learning straight to the Produce Party 📚

And cheers to our service leaders — the green-vest crew who bring the energy whenever something needs doing 🦺

One HUGE shoutout to student service leader and photographer Grant Knight (Grant), who heads off to Middlebury College this fall after lending his incredible talent to Grassroots Grocery. We’re going to miss having him behind the camera — and in the lot! 📸

The summer Produce Party streak continues 🌞

Last Saturday, 150+ volunteers helped move 12,233 lbs of fresh produce — 🫑🍌🍐🍆🥬 — reaching 1,300+ families across 18 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

🔥 Shoutout to:

Elmwood Day Camp — back for their second Produce Party of the summer and continuing a tradition we love seeing year after year. Can’t wait to welcome them back this winter! 🏕️

• Albert Einstein College of Medicine — future doctors showing up for their Bronx neighbors 🩺

And a big salute to our service leaders — the green-vest crew who somehow make 12,000+ lbs of produce feel organized, welcoming, and fun 💚

One of our favorite summer traditions 💚

Last week, our founder & CEO Daniel Zauderer visited Camp Echo Lake to talk with the Leaders in Training about Grassroots Grocery and the power of neighbors helping neighbors.

Huge thanks to Emily Belkin Stein and Tony, the best sleepaway camp directors around, for making this happen every summer!

Next up: the CEL Produce Party this November. It’s going to be epic 🍇

A whole lot of green vests and a whole lot of produce 💚

Nearly 100 volunteers joined us last Saturday to move 10,046 lbs of fresh produce — 🥦🥬🌶️🍓🫑🥒 — reaching 1,400+ families across 20 communities throughout The Bronx, Harlem, and Upper Manhattan.

And this week, our service leaders get the spotlight!

These are the Produce Party Animals who keep coming back, learning the ropes, taking ownership, and becoming the people others can count on when Saturday morning gets moving.

They started as volunteers. Now they’re part of what makes the whole thing hum.
