Over 85 girls filled the gym with energy and a willingness to learn and grow! Last Monday, January 19th, in honor of MLK Day, we came together in the Bronx for a FREE community event rooted in leadership, the power of sport, wellness, and connection.

Celebrating World Basketball Day in Guinea! 🏀🌍

On December 14, we hosted the “Basketball Unites Guinea” Festival—a vibrant celebration of basketball, culture, and community!

As part of FIBA’s Basketball for Good initiative and in partnership with the Olympafrica Center in Kassa, an island in Guinea, the event highlighted youth empowerment, gender equality, and cultural pride. The girls had an amazing time exploring their home country and connecting through sport.

From workshops and 3x3 tournaments to cultural performances, the day showcased basketball’s power to unite and inspire. Thank you to everyone who made it unforgettable! 💪🏾✨

🌟 Highlights from WAKE Girls Sports Day 🌟

What a day to remember! Over 65 incredible girls joined us for a celebration of sports, sisterhood, and growth. From start to finish, the energy was unmatched, and the smiles were endless.

Here’s what made the event so special:
🏀 Basketball drills that built confidence and teamwork
🎯 Archery and 🎾 table tennis that brought out their competitive sides
🤖 Robotics to spark creativity
⚽ Soccer for action-packed fun
💇‍♀️ Hair braiding & henna that showcased artistry and culture

With support from amazing partners, the girls were treated to trophies, snack bags, giveaways, and inspiring mentorship sessions led by experienced coaches and leaders.

Our WAKE Girls Sports Day was absolutely electric! 🔥 Part of by Gainbridge, this day was packed with joy, friendship, and nonstop action!

Our amazing girls jumped right into basketball, archery, robotics, table tennis, soccer, hair braiding, and henna, thanks to incredible support from our community partners. Plus, they loved the trophies, snack bags, and other awesome giveaways!

Skill-building with top-notch coaches, 💡 inspiring leadership, and athlete mentorship sessions took the day to the next level.

Big shoutout to for being an incredible partner and our all-star WAKE team— Dee, Chloe, , and Maryam—you made this day unforgettable! And of course, a massive thank you to for the smoothie magic; they were a huge hit as always! 🫶
