Our little campers had the opportunity to learn about science hands-on aboard the BioBus! We love sharing experiences that inspire growth, and make learning accessible for all ages.
Thank you to our partners and all the young scientists who participated in this great project.

New hi-tech drones designed to respond to active shooter situations in schools are now being used in Georgia, Florida, and Colorado.
While the goal is to improve school safety, this approach appears to be more dangerous than effective.

The Angellyh Yambo Foundation, in partnership with RomoGIS, has completed a 10-year analysis of gun violence incidents occurring within 500 feet of schools across New York City’s five boroughs.

This project was developed to provide a clearer understanding of long-term gun violence trends and their impact on the communities where children learn, live, and grow. The findings are both eye-opening and sobering, illustrating the persistent presence of gun violence in areas surrounding our schools.

As Gun Violence Awareness Month and the school year come to a close, we are releasing this analysis to help inform our communities, foster conversations, and emphasize the need for effective prevention through education, awareness, and data-driven action. Our hope is that these findings will inspire continued collaboration to create safer environments for students, families, and neighborhoods.

The accompanying maps, covering the years 2016 through 2025, provide a visual representation of these incidents and highlight the importance of continued collaboration to create safer neighborhoods for every child and family. By making this information accessible, The Angellyh Yambo Foundation and RomoGIS hope to increase awareness, encourage community engagement, and support informed conversations and actions aimed at reducing gun violence and protecting future generations.

One of the most memorable takeaways from Conan O’Brien’s Harvard commencement speech is that success is not just measured by what you achieve, but how you carry those achievements. He emphasized the importance of community and staying humble in moments of triumph. When we hold our accomplishments with humility rather than ego, we create space for kindness, originality, courage, humor, and humanity to emerge.

Be proud of what you’ve accomplished, but stay grounded and find purpose in the journey. The real challenge isn’t reaching a milestone; it’s navigating life with character, resilience, and a commitment to growth. In the end, those qualities have the most lasting impact.

Congratulations to all graduates!🎓

PSA: As we continue to share our thoughts on the dangerous trend of subway surfing, we want to share a video highlighting ways parents can help keep young people safe.
Subway surfing has become a way for some teens to gain attention on social media, but no trend is worth risking your life. We need to encourage all parents and guardians to have open conversations with their children about the serious dangers of subway surfing.
Young people need to understand the risks and avoid supporting or participating in behaviors that can lead to tragic consequences. Together, we can help raise awareness and protect lives. Help us share the message of safety for all children and teens in New York City. Help save lives.

One of the highlights from Henry Winkler’s commencement speech at Emerson College was his message about the power we carry within ourselves. It’s a great reminder that many of us don’t realize our true potential until life challenges us to use it. The ability to create change, help others, and make a positive impact already exists within us, we just have to believe in it. Strength, purpose, and power often reveal themselves in the moments we are pushed beyond our limits.

Sometimes the future isn’t about searching for power or misusing it for social media content or attention, but it’s about recognizing the strength that has been within us all along and choosing to use it to make the world a better place.

What a wonderful Prom Impact 2026 celebration with our youth! We are so proud of each and every one of them and very grateful to Detective Duhaney for pouring her heart and soul into creating such an unforgettable experience for our community. We also want to thank La Central YMCA, the NYPD, and all of the incredible partners who made this event possible.
Our youth were so excited and surprised. As Detective Duhaney pointed out, it is so important that we continue supporting our young people in making positive choices while also encouraging and uplifting their aspirations for the future. We are grateful to have been part of this year’s event and look forward to continuing this important work together.
