🌎🏠 World Homeless Day: Housing Is the Foundation.

Homelessness affects millions of people around the world, across the United States, and right here in New York.

🌍 Globally, about 1.6 billion people live in inadequate housing, and an estimated 100 million have no housing at all.

Across the United States, 745,652 people experienced homelessness on a single night in January 2025, including more than 266,000 people living on the streets.

💙 In New York, 145,560 people experienced homelessness in January 2025. Children accounted for nearly 32% of the state’s homeless population, underscoring how deeply housing instability affects families.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a future worth investing in.

At Housing Solutions of New York, we work every day to help individuals and families move from crisis to stability. Through housing placement, supportive services, financial literacy, wellness resources, and connections to essential community support, we help our clients build the foundation they need to move forward with dignity, confidence, and hope.

On World Homeless Day, we’re reminded that ending homelessness takes more than awareness. It takes sustained action, compassionate support, and a commitment to ensuring everyone has a safe place to call home.
