He's officially a teenager!
My baby is no longer a baby, well he hasn't been one in quite a while. It was easy for me to try to keep him as my baby, he needs special attention and care is what I'd say to myself 😏 Then he started to stretch and grow both literally and figuratively. Hold up I ain't ready but it's not about me😲 Ru has been promoted to a 9:1:3 with the understanding if he needs to go back into a 6:1:1 he can (at least that's my understanding the school has other plans 😆 and I thank them 🙏)
On to a new exciting chapter. The tumultuous teens. This will be different than his siblings journeys yet the same (the defiance has kicked in🙄 but I love it-sometimes🙄) On to more socializing and activities. On to allowing outside help. On to allowing my "baby" to grow. I am sooo Thankful and Grateful for this journey. Ru thank you for choosing us and for the grace you give me as I learn how to flow with you on your journey.
Happy Born Day!!!

This Autism Awareness Day during Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month I share my journey with Ru from my pov from my experience as a typical mom loving, raising and learning from an atypical son. I've learned a lot over the last 6 years and yet there is still so much more to become aware of and fully accept. Some days I get it right and some not so much yet each day is a lesson and we share love. I share this with love as the intention. 🖤🤎💙❤💜💗💛

Honoring Robert "Radio" Kennedy this Black History Month.

Source: https://metrovoicenews.com/the-true-story-of-radio-still-inspiring/

It was 1964, in the heat of August, when JV coaches Harold Jones and Dennis Patterson noticed a young man coming to the practices every day, holding a transistor radio to his ear.

Coach Jones explains, “He started mimicking us coaches and the players.  So we was trying to get him to come closer to us.  We wanted him to get involved.  So we said, ‘Well, let’s-lets offer him a Coke maybe and a hamburger, and maybe we can get him to come.’  And that was the trick.”

They learned he was 18-year-old James Robert Kennedy, nicknamed “Radio” because of his obsession with radios.  In today’s terms, he was born with an intellectual disability, and was unable to learn how to read or write, and could barely speak.  But the coaches and players saw past that, and soon made him one of their own.
Coach Jones says, “He wanted to be like the coaches and all.  I was a defensive coach so, I’d give the sign, you know, and he’d do the same thing.  And then every once in a while if I, you know, got mad at an official, you know, he’d get mad at the official!”
Radio would become a permanent member of the team, going to practices, giving pep talks, and leading them onto the field before games.
