Tootsie is a 21yr old feral boy from City Island who needs our help!๐Please visit StreetstoSuites for donation information ๐โโฌ๐พ
Our group rescued him last summer from his elderly, lovely caretaker's yard. He was very ill, we held him for 2 months while getting vet care to help him recover from several issues, including cryptosporidium infection. When he was healthy enough, we brought him to Feline Veterinary Medical Center for a much needed bath and grooming -- our wonderful vet tech and Tootsie fell *madly* in love with each other ๐ป, and she decided to bring him inside to her own amazing rescue. She wanted to make sure he spent his last years indoors and comfortable, and we have all been overjoyed watching him bloom into an incredibly loving lovebug because of their truly special bond ๐ป๐ญ (btw, his devoted caretaker of 20 years said he never allowed any pets or affection whatsoever! He smacked me every time I put my hand in his cage with food or to change litter๐).
I'll post more photos and stories about his journey. It's been nothing short of a miracle watching him transform inside and out. We have lots of fundraising we need to do for our group, but nothing is more important to us than helping Tootsie get all the care he needs to stay as comfortable as possible โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
I'm donating on Venmo, she also has other options like PayPal and Zelle
Hey all. Tootsie needs our help. He had been doing great and putting on weight until a few weeks ago. I noticed him slowly starting to look skinnier and skinnier. I've been monitoring his weight closely and he's officially lost a pound in the last 5 weeks. I was finally able to pull his bloods yesterday and they came back this morning.
I'm so sad. His kidneys are bad. Stage 3 bad. His blood this time last year showed that his kidneys were good, which was actually surprising at 20 years old. Unfortunately, at one month shy of 21 years old, itโs not surprising that his kidneys are going. So now that I know that heโs got kidney disease, the first step is to get him flooded with IV fluids for three days which means keeping him in the hospital. I desperately need to raise $500 to cover this cost. Once heโs got three days of IV fluids, Iโm going to repeat his bloodwork and see if those three days of intense fluid therapy has helped improve his kidneys. Then going forward, Iโm going to need to find a way to give him fluids under the skin about five times a week and adding kidney supplements and try changing him to a kidney diet to see if heโll eat that. Please spread the word and consider donating towards this cost for Tootsie. He could use all the help and support at this time. He's down to 6.2 lbs and I'm devastated. The Rescue has Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal. You all are amazing and Tootsie loves every single one of to that have been following him on his journey for the past year. We love you all and thank you always.
