Happy Birthday to our very own VSG, Sister Cornelia Harris-Banks! 💗💚

Sister Harris-Banks is an active member of the Beta Phi Omega Chapter and proudly served as the 19th Far Western Regional Director of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® from 1992–1996.

Her legacy of leadership and service extends far beyond our Sisterhood. A former Galveston City Council member, longtime community advocate, and champion for preserving African American history in Galveston, Sister Harris-Banks has dedicated decades to uplifting her community and paving the way for others.

Today, we celebrate her life, her leadership, and her remarkable legacy of service. Please join Beta Phi Omega in wishing Sister Cornelia Harris-Banks a very Happy Birthday! 🎉💗💚

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Beta Phi Omega Chapter members were proud to support the National Pan-Hellenic Council Galveston Alumni Chapter at this important Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) Training.🗳️

As we prepare for an important election season, we know how important it is for our communities to be informed, registered, prepared, and ready to vote. Every election matters, and making sure our family, friends, neighbors, and communities have the information and resources they need to participate is an important part of civic engagement.

Through this training, our members are better equipped to help keep our communities informed and engaged and encourage eligible voters to make sure they are registered and ready when it’s time to head to the polls.

We are proud to support one of the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s key initiatives and to continue doing our part to encourage voter education, registration, and participation in our community.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Be informed. Be registered. Be ready. 🗳️

🏆 CHAMPION IMPACT STORY 🩷💚
We are ready to Champion Service. Empower Sisterhood. Transform the World.

Chapter member Valerie shares why she is excited to be an AKA Champion:

“As the aunt of a former foster child that my sister, Golden Member Denise, adopted at the age of three (3), I am especially excited about Championing Service in our communities through the initiative to serve foster children over the next four years.
My nephew (who was also my godson) was a sweet spirit who was both autistic and developed MS as an adult. Although he transitioned 5 years ago, he will forever be in our hearts, and I cannot wait to actively serve other such children as part of the signature program: AKA Foster the Future: From Here to Hope!”
