United Way Galveston County Mainland

United Way Galveston County Mainland fights for the Health, Education, and Financial Stability of every person in Galveston County Mainland.

We do this by supporting partner agencies that provide a wide range of vital social services. United Way Galveston County Mainland (UWGCM) is a local, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that brings together the 12 mainland communities of Galveston County to address the critical issues of HEALTH, EDUCATION and FINANCIAL STABILITY. Our 23 Partner Agencies provide programs that make positive, long-lasting impacts to the people who live and work in Galveston County.

Last week, Valero Texas City employees volunteered their time to complete projects at UWGCM partner agencies throughout our community. Their efforts provided valuable support to our agencies and the important work they do every day.

We are incredibly grateful to Valero for continuing to invest in our community, to every employee who volunteered, and to our partner agencies for welcoming them and providing opportunities to make a difference.

As we wrap up Week of Caring, we are proud to celebrate a successful week of service and community impact!

🌟 Week of Caring is in full swing!

This week, Valero volunteers have been hard at work across our community, lending their time and talents to support local agencies and the people they serve.

From landscaping and facility improvements to hands-on projects and helping prepare resources for our neighbors, these volunteers have shown up ready to make a difference wherever they are needed.

We are incredibly grateful to Valero and all of the volunteers who have rolled up their sleeves for this year’s Week of Caring. Your time, energy and commitment to our community mean so much to our partner agencies and to all of us at UWGCM.

Week of Caring is underway! We’re excited to see Valero employees connecting with our partner agencies and lending a hand in meaningful ways across our community. M.I. Lewis was one of the agencies benefiting from that support this week, as Valero volunteers pitched in to help with projects throughout the center. We’re grateful for the time and effort Valero employees are giving to support our community! 💙

Ida Gallardo is the Galveston County Food Bank Community Resource Navigator. She is bilingual and helps individuals with the application process for social services such as; SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, CHIP, and Healthy Texas Women programs. To schedule an appointment with her, call 409-945-4232 Extension 2312.

Over the past several days, we have had the opportunity to visit with Valero Texas City Refinery employees alongside several of our partner agencies to share more about the work happening in our community. We are always grateful for the chance to connect directly with employees, talk about the impact of their support, and hear directly from our agencies about the important work they do every day.

We are incredibly grateful for Valero’s continued support of UWGCM, our partner agencies, and our entire community. Their commitment goes far beyond their generous financial support, and we are excited to keep the campaign going with more employee visits later this week and the Week of Caring next week, when employees will volunteer directly with local agencies.

A huge thank you to everyone at Valero who has welcomed us, learned more about our agencies, and continues to show up for our community. We are proud to be part of this campaign, and we are looking forward to everything still to come!

💛 United for our community!

We were grateful to join Valero Texas City Refinery for their United Way Campaign Kickoff last week alongside several of our incredible partner agencies!

A huge thank you to Valero and their employees for their continued support of UWGCM and the organizations working every day to serve our community. Their generosity and commitment help strengthen the network of services available to individuals and families throughout Galveston County.

We were proud to be joined by Big Brothers Big Sisters Gulf Coast, CASA of Galveston County, M. I. Lewis Social Service Center, NAMI Gulf Coast - TX, Advocacy Center for Children of Galveston County, St. Vincent's House, and The Salvation Army Galveston County.

We are excited to see the impact Valero and their employees will make through this year's campaign!

We have officially kicked off our 2026 campaign! 💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Campaign Kickoff Luncheon as we celebrated the incredible work happening throughout Galveston County Mainland and looked ahead to another year of making an impact together.

A special thank you to Kim Ronan with Valero Texas City Refinery and Angelica Hanley with M. I. Lewis Social Service Center for sharing their perspectives and helping us highlight the impact of community partnerships.

Mary Ellen Doyle has a special place in the history of UWGCM, and we’re proud to see her and Chuck celebrated on their 70th wedding anniversary!

Mary Ellen served as the first female president of United Way Galveston County Mainland. Her commitment to serving others continues to inspire us, and we are proud to honor her through the Mary Ellen Doyle Volunteer of the Year Award, which recognizes outstanding volunteer service in our community.

Congratulations to Chuck and Mary Ellen on 70 years of marriage and on all they have done to make our community a better place! ❤️
