BCNA Condemns Recent Attacks in Plateau
The Berom Community North America (BCNA) strongly condemns the continued, coordinated, and unrelenting attacks, killings, and displacement of our people across Plateau State. We are deeply saddened and outraged by the recent gruesome killing of seven persons in Nding Sesut, Barkin Ladi LGA and the barbaric attack on mourners during the mass burial of victims. Such acts are inhuman, reprehensible, and unacceptable in any civilized society governed by law.
It is heartbreaking that communities continue to live under fear while innocent men, women, children, and the elderly are repeatedly targeted with little or no meaningful protection. The persistent silence, weak response, and apparent lack of commitment by the Nigerian government toward decisively ending these atrocities continue to raise serious concerns among our people and all conscientious observers around the world.
Even more disturbing are growing reports and perceptions that some of these jihadist-driven attacks occur under the watch or cover of security agencies that are constitutionally expected to protect lives and property. No nation can survive when citizens lose confidence in the neutrality and effectiveness of its security institutions.
BCNA calls on the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Plateau State Government, security agencies, civil society organizations, religious leaders, the international community, and all people of conscience to rise and speak boldly against these ongoing acts of terror and ethnic cleansing.
The bloodshed in Berom Land and on the Plateau must stop. Human life is sacred. Justice must prevail. The perpetrators and their sponsors must be identified, arrested, and prosecuted without delay.
We stand in solidarity with the grieving families and affected communities during this painful time. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all victims of these senseless attacks.
