π Volunteer Spotlight: Sade Williams π
This month, we're proud to highlight Sade Williams, one of our dedicated Homebound Program volunteers!
For nearly a year, Sade has been delivering meals and friendship to a local senior through our Homebound Program. Inspired by her mother, who volunteered with the Food Bank for four years, Sade wanted to give back to her community and make a difference in someone's life.
What keeps her coming back month after month? The gratitude and positivity she receives from the senior she serves.
"Seeing my senior's face brighten up when I deliver to him makes it all worthwhile."
Sade says one of the most meaningful parts of volunteering is the relationship she has built with her client. She encourages him to keep pursuing his dreams and not let age define his limits. In return, they pray for one another and share words of encouragement.
"I know I'm doing good for my community and helping those who are in a time of need."
When asked what she would tell someone considering volunteering with the Homebound Program, Sade didn't hesitate:
"Go for it! GCFB is my favorite place to volunteer."
Thank you, Sade, for your compassion, positivity, and commitment to serving our neighbors. Volunteers like you help ensure that homebound seniors receive not only nutritious food, but also connection, encouragement, and hope.
