These exercises promote active mindfulness by requiring concentration on repetitive patterns. This rhythmic and structured task shifts the brain’s attention away from future worries (anxiety) and toward the present moment. Concentrating on the lines and colors induces a meditative state that helps reduce hyperactivity in the amygdala, calming the nervous system.
