Park friends, be sure to respond to Houston City Council Member Joe Panzarella’s “Direct Your Dollars” Survey before it closes September 7.

The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete and will help his District C team identify investment priorities for the coming fiscal year.

Results will be shared at his upcoming town hall on Saturday, September 19. You can subscribe to his newsletter (link in comments) to stay updated on this and other District C happenings.

As we plan out how we're investing your district dollars in Fiscal Year 2027, Council Member Joe wants to hear from you!

We shared the exciting news that American Legion Park was selected for the Let’s Play Houston Program at the Oak Forest Homeowners Association meeting! We thank OFHA for their continued support of the ALP improvement initiative and for all their impactful work in our neighborhood.

At the meeting we also heard from Coby Johnston, District Liaison of State Representative Penny Morales Shaw about her efforts to support the revitalization of American Legion Park! We thank Rep. Penny Morales Shaw for her strong advocacy in Austin for our Houston city parks!

🫧 We are BURSTING with excitement about the revitalization of American Legion Park ! 🫧

If you missed our pop up community engagement event this spring, here is a throwback with key informational highlights:

🎉 Let’s Play Houston is citywide initiative led by Mayor John Whitmire, Houston Parks Board (HPB), and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD), in partnership with corporate and foundation support to revitalize 25 neighborhood parks. We are overjoyed American Legion Park was selected!

✏️ To align with the $2 million dollar project budget from Let’s Play Houston, the American Legion Park improvements will be a modified version of Phase I of the existing Master Plan generated from our two previous community input meetings.

🚜 Construction on our park will likely begin at the end of 2027 and finish up in early 2028!

💻 You can follow along with the project progress and sign up for a newsletter at: https://houstonparksboard.org/american-legion-park/
