A special homemade treat was on the menu at St. Edward Catholic Outreach Center this week.

John and Jana Thomas, Michael Thomas, and Billy McKinney volunteered their time and talents to prepare 30 gallons of delicious homemade chicken noodle soup. More than 400 clients enjoyed this wonderful meal.

Thank you for cooking and serving others.

We are grateful to the Red Shield Youth Center of Texarkana members for volunteering at the Outreach for two days during their winter break. Thank you to the Blue Team for serving alongside us. It was inspiring to see these young people work together, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and give back to the community. Thank you for being part of our ministry and sharing your time and talents with us. We appreciate for their willingness to make a difference by serving others.

Our new sign is up. A special thank you to Knights of Columbus members Bill, Joe, and Mark for installing it.

The sign includes “The Blue House,” a name given to the Outreach Center by our clients. Our previous location was known as The Blue House for many years, even during the years when the building wasn’t blue. We included the familiar name at our new location.

We also appreciate Mark Colbert of Check Mark Designs for creating and designing our beautiful new sign. It makes our new Outreach Center feel complete.

3rd set of photos

The Mission Team from Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church shared photos taken throughout their days of service. Because there so many photos, they will be shared in several posts with this description. The photos offer a glimpse of just how hard this team worked for three days.

At the original Outreach building, the construction team screened in the porch and removed a wall as the first step toward transforming the building into an Adoration Chapel.

The team also worked on a fire-damaged home owned by Darein Hatcher, a veteran and founder of Mariah House. Mariah House provides a free mobile shower service that travels to designated locations throughout the community, offering hot showers, clean towels, toiletries, and fresh undergarments to those in need. Significant progress was made on the home, although additional work remains.

Several other homes in the community also received much needed repairs.

We are grateful for the for their work and every act of kindness shared. The Mission Team’s hard work and servant hearts have made a difference in our parish and with our clients. They came ready to serve, and they left behind hope, encouragement, and many blessings.
