Over the past week, we hosted two separate Auto Extrication training classes at Domtar Mill in Ashdown. This event not only benefited the local firefighters but also supported the Mills ERT team. I would like to thank everyone who participated, as they received valuable training in basic auto extrication techniques.

Additionally, I want to extend special thanks Domtar for providing the training grounds and to Baker's Towing and Recovery. Their generosity in donating the vehicles for practice, along with their time and equipment to deliver them to our site, was instrumental in the success of this training. We sincerely appreciate their support of our local volunteer fire departments and mill ERT teams.

The Miller County Volunteer Fire Department has had a busy few weeks. We hosted several training sessions that were not previously offered in the county, including courses on Communications, Building Construction, Fire Dynamics, and Portable Fire Extinguishers. Participation in these classes has been excellent. I want to sincerely thank all the participants. It has been an honor to host these sessions for such dedicated firefighters, and it is truly inspiring to see their commitment to improving their skills for the benefit of the communities they serve. Enjoy a few photos from the Portable Fire Extinguishers training session, along with some bonus work with our Pro-Pak foam system.

We don’t expect Public Works to fundraise for essential infrastructure.
So why do we expect it from our fire departments?

Volunteer firefighters are protecting our communities with aging equipment and bake sale budgets. That gap shouldn’t exist.

It’s time we start treating emergency response like the essential service it is.
