🚨 🚒 HELP US SPREAD THE WORD! 🚒 🚨

On October 19th, we will dedicate our new engine to serving the citizens of Miller County during our regular business meeting. This event is open to all, and we look forward to your attendance.

Engine 52, along with all of our equipment, will be on display for the public to check out and for the little ones to explore.

If you’re interested in joining the volunteer fire service, talk to our instructors. Even if it’s not within our service area, we’ll guide you toward the service areas near you.

🚒 YOUR LOCAL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT NEEDS MORE THAN FIREFIGHTERS.

Your local department may need:

🔥 Firefighters - Responding to fires, wrecks, rescues, and other emergencies.

🚑 First Responders - Assisting with medical calls and providing care until additional help arrives.

🚒 Drivers / Apparatus Operators – Helping operate and maintain emergency vehicles where training and department requirements allow.

🔧 Mechanics - Helping maintain trucks, pumps, generators, small engines, and equipment.

🏠 Station Managers / Maintenance Volunteers - Keeping the station, grounds, supplies, and equipment organized and ready.

📋 Board Members - Helping oversee budgets, policies, planning, fundraising, and the future of the department.

💻 Administrative Volunteers - Helping with paperwork, records, grants, fundraising, social media, and community outreach.

You may have a physical limitation that keeps you from fighting fire, but you might have decades of experience in accounting, mechanics, business, construction, healthcare, administration, technology, or another skill your department desperately needs.

And if you lack experience, many departments can provide training.

Do not assume there is no place for you.

Call or stop by your local volunteer fire department and simply ask:

“What do you need, and how can I help?”
They may need a firefighter.
They may need someone to turn a wrench.
They may need someone to manage paperwork.
They may need someone to serve on the board.
They may simply need you.

Our rural volunteer fire departments survive because neighbors are willing to step forward and serve their communities in whatever capacity they can.

Check with your local VFD today. There is almost always a way to help.

🔥 A GREAT DAY OF TRAINING WITH OUR NEIGHBORS! 🚒

When our communities need us, we’re stronger when we work together. That’s why days like today are so important.

Training side by side gives our firefighters the chance to learn together, build relationships, and ensure we’re ready to work as one team when the call comes in.

Today, members from Trinity, Mandeville Fire/Rescue, Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, and Satellite Volunteer Fire Department came together for hands-on training focused on sharpening our skills and strengthening our ability to serve the communities we call home.

Crews worked through several important fireground and rural water-supply operations, including:

🚒 Drafting and water-supply operations
💧 Pump operations and water movement
🚛 Water-shuttle operations
🔥 Ground-monitor setup and operation
🧑‍🚒 PPE and SCBA use
🫁 SCBA bottle management
🚰 Fill-site operations and coordination

Crews practiced establishing water sources, filling and moving apparatus, drafting, pumping, and maintaining effective fire flows—critical skills in rural areas where municipal hydrant systems may not be available.

Just as importantly, training together allows firefighters from neighboring departments to become familiar with one another’s personnel, equipment, capabilities, and operations before we’re standing together at an emergency scene.

When the call comes in, the patch on our sleeve may be different, but the mission is the same: protect lives, protect property, and take care of our neighbors.
We appreciate every firefighter from Trinity, Mandeville, Genoa, and Satellite who dedicated their Saturday to training and improving the service we provide to our communities.

Please provide advance notice to help us manage team capacity effectively and avoid overextending our resources. It takes everyone to do their part

With dry conditions persisting across Arkansas, row crop producers are reminded to follow voluntary smoke management guidelines and comply with all state burning requirements.

Before burning crop residue, check your county burn ban status, understand harvest exceptions, notify the proper authorities when required, and post warnings if smoke reaches a roadway. Monitor all fires closely and report burns through the FireSMART tool.

Following these steps helps protect property, visibility, and public safety during this year’s accelerated harvest season.

A Volunteer Firefighter may not earn a paycheck for every call, but the impact they make is priceless.

When an emergency happens, they leave their families, jobs, and personal plans behind to serve their community. That kind of dedication can't be measured in dollars.

Thank you to every Volunteer Firefighter who answers the call when others need help most. 👨‍🚒🚒❤️

All 75 Arkansas counties are now under high wildfire risk, and more than 65 counties have active burn bans. Persistent drought and extremely dry vegetation mean fires can start easily, spread rapidly, and become difficult to control. As we head into the holiday weekend, we’re asking all Arkansans to stay alert and take steps to reduce wildfire ignition.

Please take these precautions:

- Avoid all outdoor burning. This includes campfires, trash burning, grilling with open flames, and any prescribed or controlled burns.
- Never leave any outdoor flame unattended.
- Use caution when driving or operating equipment near dry vegetation. Avoid driving over tall or dry grass, ensure trailer chains aren’t dragging, and do not drive on flat tires.
- Properly extinguish and dispose of cigarettes—never discard them outdoors.
- Report smoke or fire immediately by calling 1‑800‑468‑8834.

Stay informed by monitoring the Department’s county‑by‑county fire map, reviewing active incidents on the wildfire dashboard, and following our updates on social media.

Miller County, Arkansas remains under a countywide burn ban. Due to ongoing dry conditions, outdoor burning is prohibited until further notice. Conditions remain very unfavorable for burning, and even small fires can spread quickly. Please help us get the word out by sharing this with your friends, family, and neighbors.
