Tewksbury Rail Trails

A number of years ago, a group of residents wanted to create a multi-use recreation trail system using the former rail beds in town.

While the former rail beds weren't available as we had hoped, it is exciting to see the progress that the town and its residents have made getting the word out about available open space and trails. Please send along your open-space and trail photos and keep the momentum going!

I’m reposting this from last year as I have already had a run in with poison ivy this year. With many of us exploring the local area around us, we must be on the lookout. Leaves three, let it be. Also. Be sure to do a tick check on yourself and your pets. Last week, we had a tick every time we came back inside.

Poison ivy - it’s everywhere right now. Here’s a photo of it growing along a sidewalk in town. If you can not identify it by sight, download the iNaturalist app, which allows you to photograph a plant or animal and it will identify it for you. Especially handy before getting started on yardwork...
