“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the FULL armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the FULL armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:10-18
There are battles that press us into the very heart of God.
I know this deeply.
Years ago, before we fully surrendered to Christ, white witchcraft found its way into our home through someone staying with us.
The havoc that followed was real—fear, torment, and sights my children witnessed that still echo in their hearts today.
We weren’t walking in close fellowship with Jesus then, and the enemy rushed through that open door.
Now I find myself on my knees again, fighting in prayer for a beloved family member I’m so grateful is still with us.
The spiritual realm is active and watchful.
It waits for moments of complacency, for any small crack when life feels peaceful and we set aside our vigilance.
Testimonies like Riaan Swiegelaar’s—his radical encounter with Jesus after leading in the occult—remind me how dramatically the Lord can break in when we turn to Him.
It was the powerful, persistent prayers of his mother that helped lead to that life-changing encounter with Jesus.
What a beautiful reminder that our prayers as mothers, fathers, grandparents and intercessors carry real weight in the heavenly realms.
But they also stir a deeper hunger: not just to fight, but to abide.
To know God so intimately that the armor becomes an overflow of His nearness.
Paul wrote these powerful words while chained in a Roman prison.
Even in that dark, restricted place, he didn’t tell the church to put on some of the armor or whatever felt convenient that day.
He deliberately says “FULL armor of God” twice in just a few verses—because partial protection leaves dangerous gaps.
The enemy is crafty, and only the complete covering equips us to stand firm when the day of evil comes.
Paul doesn’t call us to slap on pieces of protection when trouble comes.
He urges us to put on the FULL armor of God every day, and to do it from a place of strength “in the Lord.”
This is not mechanical.
It’s relational.
It’s stepping into the secret place with our Father, letting Him clothe us as we linger in His presence, His Word, and His love.
The armor protects us because it is His—worn in union with Christ.
Imagine starting your morning not rushing through a list, but sitting quietly with Jesus.
You whisper, “Lord, I need You. Clothe me in Yourself today.”
Then, piece by piece, you receive:
Belt of Truth: As you open Scripture and let His words wash over you, truth becomes more than facts—it becomes the intimate reality of who He is and who you are in Him.
Lies about your past, your worth, or your family lose their grip when you’re anchored in His voice.
Breastplate of Righteousness: In the quiet of His presence, you feel His righteousness covering your heart.
Not earned, but given.
Here, shame and guilt from old doors or present struggles melt in the warmth of His forgiving love.
Your heart stays tender toward Him and protected from accusation.
Feet Fitted with the Gospel of Peace: In intimacy, His peace isn’t distant—it becomes the steady ground beneath you.
You rise ready, not in fear, but in the calm assurance that you belong to the Prince of Peace, able to walk into hard conversations or prayers with gentle confidence.
Shield of Faith: As you pour out your heart to Him—fears for your loved one, pain over your children’s scars—faith rises.
Not blind optimism, but deep trust born from knowing His character.
Flaming arrows of doubt are quenched in the safety of His embrace.
Helmet of Salvation: In His presence, your thoughts are renewed.
The “what ifs” quiet as you remember: you are His, sealed, secure.
Salvation isn’t just future hope; it’s present intimacy with the Savior who guards your mind.
Sword of the Spirit: His Word comes alive as you meditate on it with Him.
You speak it not as a formula, but as a love song and a weapon—sharp because the Holy Spirit breathes on it in your communion with Him.
And then the heartbeat of it all: prayer in the Spirit on all occasions.
This is where intimacy deepens the warfare.
Don’t only think your rebukes—speak them aloud in the authority of Jesus, covered by His precious blood.
Satan cannot read your thoughts as God can, but when you declare truth out loud from a heart close to the Father, the atmosphere shifts.
Something like this, prayed from the overflow of time spent with Him:
“Father, I come close to You first.
I love You.
Clothe me in Your FULL armor today because I need You desperately.
In the name of Jesus and by the power of His blood that purchased my freedom, I rebuke every spirit of darkness touching my family.
You have no place here.
Every old door is shut by the cross.
Holy Spirit, fill us with Your presence, heal the scars in my children, draw [name] close to Your heart.
I stand in You—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and Your living Word.
Greater are You in me.
Amen.”
Beloved, the FULL armor is not a shield we hide behind while keeping God at arm’s length.
It is the clothing of a child who lingers in the Father’s presence, who knows His voice, who rests in His love, and who then rises to stand firm.
The battle is real, but intimacy with Jesus is the secret place where we are strengthened, healed, and made bold.
If you’re weary from fighting for your family, your marriage, your own heart—draw near.
Stay longer in His Word.
Pour out everything in prayer.
Let Him clothe you afresh each morning.
He is not a distant commander; He is the loving Father who fights for you and with you.
The same God who met Riaan in the middle of darkness is waiting to meet you in deeper ways today.
He breaks chains, heals deep wounds, and restores families—all from the place of intimate relationship.
🙏 Jesus, draw us closer.
We don’t want to just wear the armor—we want to be clothed in You.
Teach us to abide, to linger in Your presence, to know Your heart.
Cover us completely with Your FULL armor: truth that anchors us to You, righteousness that makes us clean before You, peace that keeps us near You, faith that trusts You fully, salvation that reminds us we are Yours, and Your Word that is alive between us.
Give us bold, authoritative prayers spoken from hearts full of love for You.
By Your blood, break every lingering darkness. Heal our children. Restore our loved ones. Let our homes be filled with Your presence. We love You. We stand in You. Amen.
Stand strong, but first—draw near.
The battle belongs to the Lord, and the intimacy is yours to pursue.
With deep love and prayer,
Jo
Feel free to share this with anyone who needs encouragement in the battle.
