🌿 We had a great time at Family Learning Day!🌿

Thank you Vigo County Soil and Water Conservation District. We had a great time!🎉

Vigo County Soil and Water Conservation District 5th grade field days was held September 15, 16 and 17th at the fairgrounds.

We think we’re at our 41st year. This incredible event that started off at a family farm is now at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds. We strongly feel this was the best year ever.

Approximately 1,000 Vigo County fifth graders learn about conservation water quality, the importance of food health, livestock, electrical safety, soils. They spend about 13 minutes at 16 different stations.

This event that could not be put on without the wonderful volunteers. Over 50 volunteers each day.

We are thankful for Duke Energy Foundation for providing funding to assist with the expenses for 2026.

The Vigo County School Corporation hits a home run with the organization and logistics. We are thankful for their partnership.

Vigo SWCD staff Laura and Rhonda, with help from Hanna Garriot kept the program running smoothly.

We appreciate Kubota of Terre Haute for providing tractors for the kids to see, and Thompsons Motorsports for the use of a UTV. Indiana American Water provided the hydration station with refreshing drinking water.

The fairgrounds staff, Bob and David were incredible. The Vigo County Community Corrections crew helped us with the set up and tear down. Sheriff Derek Fell encouraged deputies to stop by periodically and the VCSC School Officers spent the days with us.

The organizations that participated are:
