Terre Haute Community Impact Group, Inc. Terre Haute Community Impact Group, Inc. is a non-profit dedicated to the safety of the children of the Wabash Valley, Inc.

Mission Statement...what we are about...
The mission of the Terre Haute Community Impact Group, Inc. is to enhance child safety, educating the care givers and providing car seats and other child protective equipment to avoid childhood injuries. Purpose...there is a serious need...
Federal Law mandates that every child up to four years of age must ride in a car seat while Indiana Law mandates that

every child eight years of age and younger must ride in a federally approved safety seat appropriate for their height and weight. In 2010 alone, over 1200 children in the United States were killed in auto accidents and 171,000 were injured. Up to 72 percent of the children were not properly restrained due to improper use of car safety seats and boosters. While you may assume that most of these tragedies resulted from fiery highway collisions, the truth is that 75 percent of auto accidents happen within 25 miles of home and 60 percent of them happen on streets where the speed limit 40 miles per hour or less. In addition, an estimated 40 percent or 618,000 children rode in vehicles without the use of any restraint at least some of the time. Child safety seats reduce the risk of death in passenger cars by 71 percent for infants, and by 54 percent for toddlers ages 1 to 4 years. Booster seats reduce the risk for serious injury by 45 percent for children ages 4 to 8 years.* Indiana’s Poverty rate for children under the age of 5 is 25.5 percent.** With so many families in need, it is easy to visualize that many may be using substandard products or none at all.

Terre Haute Community Impact Group is looking for volunteers for a couple hours for our phone campaign on December 2nd and 3rd! See details below if you are interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity!

1. Volunteers will come to the State Farm office located at 1517 S. 3rd Street and make calls from their cell phone to a small list of potential donors.
2. The volunteer time commitment is 2 to 4 hours on December 2nd and 3rd from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The volunteer may choose their time slot(s) within those two days and times.
3. Volunteers will be given calling cards with the donor contact info on them as well as a place to notate what the donor states from the phone call.
4. The volunteers will be given a basic script to follow for the call and a short training session on how to call and fill out their donor cards.
5. Raffle tickets will be given out for each dollar the volunteer gets the donor to pledge. $1 donated = 1 raffle ticket. Volunteers can potentially get hundreds of raffle chances!
6. We will be giving out prizes each day by pulling the raffle tickets to thank our donors for their efforts.
7. There will be snacks and drinks for the volunteers.
8. Volunteers may add their own potential donors to our list to call for raffle chances! (In other words...if the volunteer thinks they can get a donor not on our list to give a pledge they can add them to the list. If the new potential donor pledges a donation, the volunteer gets their raffle tickets!)
9. Volunteers do not have to have any experience and "mess-ups" actually seem to work well with donors because then they know you are a true volunteer trying to raise money for kids instead of a professional phone solicitor.
10. This is a great and quick way to rack up volunteer hours as well as a solid addition to your resume!

If you have any questions about this opportunity, please call 317-306-1779!
