Just a little fun information this morning...

🌳 Planting a tree is only the beginning.

Approximately 20 trees that did not survive the winter have now been replaced, and all the trees received a thorough watering to help them withstand the summer heat. An additional 10 trees were also planted, expanding the original project and adding even more long-term benefits for our community.

These trees will provide shade, improve air quality, manage stormwater, create wildlife habitat and strengthen Terre Haute’s urban canopy for years to come.

Tree care has also continued at planting sites near Misco, Brittlebank Park, Ohio Boulevard and Thompson Park, along with recent volunteer maintenance at Dobbs Dell.

TREES Inc. appreciates Rose Hill Nursery and the volunteers who continue to water, maintain and monitor these young trees. This ongoing care gives every tree its best chance to grow, thrive and become a lasting part of our community.

🌳 A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for today’s TREES Inc. meeting!

It was especially exciting to welcome two wonderful women who share our love for trees, Amy Rhodes with the Indiana DNR Division of Forestry and Carrie Tauscher with Crown Hill Cemetery and Arboretum.

We enjoyed a great conversation about 🌱 Indiana’s Community & Urban Forestry Program, 🌳 tree preservation, 🏘️ how state and local policies impact our community trees, and 🇺🇸 federal policy updates affecting urban forestry.

Most importantly, we enjoyed exchanging ideas, learning from one another, and talking about the future of trees in Terre Haute and across Indiana.

Thank you, Amy and Carrie, for spending your afternoon with TREES Inc. and thank you to everyone who came, listened, asked questions, and continues to care about our community’s urban forest! 💚🌳
