🌳 Meet TREES Inc.’s October Speaker: Carla Artis!

What does it take to help an arboretum grow? For Carla Artis, it’s years of hands-on care, a love of plants, and a commitment to community.

Join TREES Inc. on Thursday, October 1, as we welcome Carla, representing Friends of the Holly Arboretum. A Terre Haute resident since 1975, Carla joined Friends of the Arboretum in 2000 and has helped with its maintenance and development ever since. Alongside her husband, Robert, she helped select and care for new hollies—contributing her time and energy to this special community landscape.

Carla’s dedication to service extends well beyond the arboretum. She has served as president of the Terre Haute Welcome Club, Vigo County Rock and Gem Club, and Terre Haute Transportation Club, and has been active in the National Holly Society. Now retired from a career primarily in transportation management, she enjoys working at the arboretum and volunteering daily at the Terre Haute Humane Society.

🍃 Come meet Carla, learn about the Holly Arboretum, and connect with others who care about the trees and green spaces in our community!

🦇🌳 WE'RE BATTY ABOUT TREES! 🌳🦇

TREES Inc. had a fantastic time participating in the Bat Festival at Indiana State University!

Did you know that trees provide important habitat for bats? From offering shelter and roosting spots to supporting the insects bats eat, healthy trees play an essential role in keeping our bat populations thriving!

We loved connecting with festivalgoers, sharing our passion for trees and talking about how protecting our urban forest benefits wildlife, our environment and our community.

A huge THANK YOU to Indiana State University for hosting this wonderful event and to everyone who stopped by our table! 💚

Protect the trees. Save the bats. Keep Terre Haute GREEN! 🌳🦇

🌳 Thank you, Bryce Patz, for inspiring us! 🌳

A special thank you to Bryce Patz, our keynote speaker at the TREES Inc. Annual Meeting, for sharing his time, experience, and perspective with our community.

Bryce gave us more than a great presentation. He gave us inspiration, insight and new ideas to carry forward as we continue working to grow and protect Terre Haute’s urban forest. 🌱

One of the most valuable things we can do is learn from what other communities are doing, celebrate what is working here at home, and come away energized about what is possible next.

Thank you, Bryce, for helping us see those possibilities and for reminding us of the impact that dedicated people can have when they work together for a greener community. 🌳💚

We’re grateful you were part of this year’s TREES Inc. Annual Meeting!
