Today, our Clay and Sullivan Community Engagement and Outreach Officers attended an Asset Development Deep Dive hosted by the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance.

Through interactive discussions and research-based strategies, they explored how meaningful donor relationships can help organizations create lasting impact. Investing in professional development helps us better serve our mission, strengthen community partnerships and make even more good possible for those we serve!

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Brazil for its $1,000 gift to the Brazil Rotary Community Fund at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation!

Through Lilly Endowment's GIFT Initiative, this contribution is being matched at a rate of $2 for every $1 given, tripling the impact of the gift to $3,000 for the fund!

Community Grant Funds, like the Brazil Rotary Community Fund, help support local needs and opportunities across Clay County. This spring, these funds enabled us to award $100,000 in grants to projects and programs throughout the county.

Community leaders, partners and residents gathered today to celebrate the groundbreaking of the YMCA Riverfront Transformation project, made possible in part by the Community Foundation’s historic $6.5 million grant investment.

This transformational project represents a major investment in health, childcare, recreation and riverfront development, while continuing decades of work to strengthen the Wabash River’s role in community life across Terre Haute and Vigo County.

For nearly 35 years, the Community Foundation has partnered with donors, local organizations and parks departments to deepen our community’s connection to the River. This $6.5 million contribution is the single largest grant in our 34-year history, a reflection of our confidence in the project, the YMCA and the future of Terre Haute and Vigo County.

The YMCA Riverfront Transformation project will create a state-of-the-art wellness space overlooking the Wabash River, giving residents new opportunities to connect with the river year-round. The project will also expand childcare services, helping address a critical need for working families and local employers.

By honoring its legacy while reimagining its future, the YMCA is helping build a healthier, stronger and more vibrant community for generations to come.

Join us in celebrating the Community Foundation’s very own Tess DeHart on graduating from the first Leadership Academy cohort! 🎉

Throughout the program, Tess and her fellow cohort members strengthened their leadership skills, expanded their community knowledge and built meaningful connections throughout West Central Indiana.

We are proud of Tess and all of the other graduates on their commitment to growth, leadership and service to our community, and we look forward to seeing all they will continue to accomplish.

Congratulations on this exciting achievement!

At the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, we are proud to support projects that create meaningful opportunities for students and strengthen our communities. This spring, our Clay County Affiliate awarded a $20,000 community grant to Clay Community Schools to help build a garage for the storage and maintenance of race day equipment used at Forest Park Elementary.

Race Day has become a special tradition at the school, giving life skills students the chance to race adapted vehicles around the school’s driveway while classmates, staff, families and community members cheer them on. Students spend weeks practicing and learning to operate vehicles customized to their individual needs, while also connecting the event to lessons about Indiana history and the Indianapolis 500.

For organizers, this project represents much more than a storage space; it’s an investment in inclusion, opportunity and the future of this growing tradition. Grants like this are made possible through unrestricted community grant funds created by generous local donors who believe in supporting a wide variety of charitable programs and projects throughout our region. We are grateful to everyone who helps make stories like this possible.

This morning, Community Foundation staff and Clay County affiliate board members cheered on students at the Forest Park Elementary Race Day! We recently awarded the school a grant to build a garage to store the vehicles. This new facility will protect the vehicles and create a maintenance space, ensuring this tradition can drive into the future!
