The Youth Grant Committees allow local high school students to learn about local nonprofits and experience philanthropy in their communities. As part of their terms, students help review youth-focused grants.

Attention Clay and Sullivan Counties!
The Community Foundation is accepting Statements of Intent for its fall grant cycle through November 2, 2026. The links to the online Statement of Intent may be accessed via the Community Foundation's website at wvcf.org/apply.
Grant-seeking community groups and nonprofit organizations in Clay and Sullivan counties must complete the Community Foundation’s online Statement of Intent process by the November 2, 2026 deadline. Upon submission deadline, Statements of Intent are reviewed and selected applications will be invited to submit the full proposal at the appropriate deadline. Nonprofit agencies and organizations are encouraged to access the guidelines and instructions to check eligibility and guideline criteria.
Please note all interested agencies and organizations must contact Tess DeHart ([email protected]) or Lidia Yigezu ([email protected]) at the Community Foundation before submitting a Statement of Intent.

The Community Foundation’s matching opportunity is still available, but only while matching funds remain.

Through Lilly Endowment Inc.’s GIFT initiative, eligible gifts to unrestricted community grant funds in Clay, Sullivan and Vigo counties receive a $2-for-$1 match. This means every $1 donated becomes $3 to support local needs and opportunities.

Unrestricted funds allow the Community Foundation to respond to changing community needs and provide support where it can make the greatest impact. Donors can contribute to an existing community grant fund or establish an unrestricted endowment of their own.

Eligible gifts may include cash, stock, IRA rollovers, Qualified Charitable Distributions and other charitable contributions.

Matching funds are limited, so now is a great time to consider making a gift. To learn more about eligibility or how to contribute, contact the Community Foundation at 812-232-2234.

This week, the Brazil Rotary Club helped make learning a little more exciting for third graders in Clay County by labeling and distributing approximately 300 dictionaries to local students!

This annual project is made possible through generous gifts from donors to funds at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, supporting dictionary distribution to third graders in Clay, Sullivan and Vigo counties.

We’re grateful to the donors who make these gifts possible and to our local Rotary Clubs for putting these resources directly into the hands of young learners. Thank you to the Brazil Rotary Club for helping make this project happen -- and for sharing these wonderful photos with us!

Today, we toured the CASY Early Learning Center and learned more about the hands-on, play-based experiences they provide for young children. We enjoyed seeing the purpose-built classrooms and the thoughtful ways CASY creates an environment where children can learn, grow and thrive. We also got to check out the new playground made possible through a recent $355,000 Partners for Progress grant!

A special thank you to Director Tiesha Glendening and the entire CASY Early Learning Center staff for welcoming us and providing such an informative and engaging tour. We’re grateful to see firsthand the meaningful work happening at CASY and to support their efforts to invest in the next generation of our community.

CASY Early Learning Center is currently open for enrollment and provides care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. We’re proud to support organizations like CASY that are helping build a strong foundation for children and families in our community!

Ten years. Hundreds of women. More than $268,000 in grants and nearly $330,000 invested in a permanent endowment for the future of Sullivan County.

We’re proud to see 100 Women Who Care Sullivan County celebrate a decade of women coming together to make a difference through collective giving.

As a sponsored program of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, this group is a wonderful example of what can happen when people find common ground, pool their resources and choose to invest in their community.

Here’s to 10 years of impact and to the women who continue to make more good possible in Sullivan County.

Time is running out! Only FIVE days remain to complete the 2026 Organizational Health Review. The Review is open through September 30, 2026.

All organizations must complete the Review annually, whether or not they plan to apply for a grant. Organizations must submit the Review during both required submission periods to remain eligible for grant consideration.

If you haven’t completed your Review yet, don’t wait -- make sure it’s submitted by September 30!
