On June 11th, 2023 at 11:06 am, we lost our 20 year old son, Nicholas Bryant Casad in a tragic car accident while driving to church. Nicholas was home for the summer and was going into his Junior year at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN. He was studying Chemistry with a minor in Biology/Religion in hopes of being a Pediatrician one day. Nicholas was the most kind hearted, caring, and loving pe
rson. He had a very special bond with his younger brother Collin. They often pushed each other in the weight room and on the wrestling mat. See things never came "easy" for Nick he had to work twice as hard, whether on the football field, wrestling mat, or in the classroom. He graduated high-school with high honors and several other achievements but this was with a lot of dedication and determination on his part. He was dedicated to Football, Wrestling, and Weightlifting. He was a four-year Varsity member on these teams in high-school at Terre Haute South before graduating in 2021. He was a collegiate wrestler at Wabash. During his freshman year of college he had his highs and lows, but he stayed true to his Faith, staying dedicated and determined to succeed. We watched him grow and learn so much in his Sophomore year and, we were so proud of him. He was beyond excited and ready for his junior year. Nicholas always wanted to help others. He wanted to care for sick children as a pediatrician. He knew the value and importance of a higher education. Nick was also a volunteer coach for the Terre Haute South Wrestling program when he was home from college. He wanted to give back to the program and the sport that taught him so much. Nick wanted younger wrestlers to have the passion and opportunities he had while growing up. The tragic accident that took Nicks life way too soon made Eric and I realize, Nick is not done fulfilling his dream. We decided to establish a foundation in his name. Our goal is to help kids fulfill their dreams by helping them through education. To handout scholarships yearly to students who have the same qualities that Nick had. This is what Nicholas would want. Several other reason’s we formed the “Nicholas Casad Memorial Scholarship Foundation”:
1. We want Nick's legacy to live on by helping others achieve some of the goals and dreams that Nick had set forth to accomplish himself. This is what he would have wanted from us.
2. We want to remind everyone that family time is precious. Creating everlasting memories, photos and videos are PRICELESS.
3. To remind everyone that “TIME” is you’re most precious priority. You never know when your “TIME” will be up. No money, car or job can replace “TIME” and “MEMORIES”.
4. The foundation will also create “Care/Grief Packages” for families who have lost a child suddenly. These packages will be filled with gift cards, restaurant gift certificates, grief literature, religious items, etc. These same items assisted Eric and myself during our difficult time after loosing Nick. Items that will hopefully lift the family up during this extraordinarily difficult time in their life.
5. To have Faith in God, Trust in God, and Grace for each other to help us through. Our goal is to spend Eternal Life in Heaven with God and our loved ones. Build a relationship with God, allow him to lead us to Heaven, to our loved ones one day. Your donations, sponsorships, and precious time will make this a successful foundation, and that means the world to Eric, Collin, and I. Knowing that Nick's passion for helping others will live on each year is priceless to us. God Bless You. Love,
Eric, Julie, Collin and “Nicholas” Casad
